LWPS Athletics Carnival & Canteen The Lake Wyangan Public School Athletics Carnival for all students K-6 is planned for next Wednesday 4th July, on our school oval. A ‘House’ meeting will be held with students where the carnival will be discussed and new students informed of their sporting house – Potter or Scott. Scott – house colour is YELLOW. Potter – house colour is GREEN. Help will be needed to assist with events. Please call 6962 3217 or send in a short note if you are able to assist. There will be a Sausage Sizzle on the day. There is no set lunch break. The athletics carnival runs all day and teachers will let age groups grab food between events during down times. Rissole Sandwiches $3.50 Sausage Sandwich $2.50 Cans of Drink $2.00 Water or Juice $1.50 Apples 70c Year 5/6 Ballarat Excursion Notes for the Year 5/6 were sent home recently and can also be accessed on the Skoolbag app. Permission slips and a $50 deposit are due back at school by Thursday, 5th July with final payment due by Friday, 10th August. Year 3/4 Dubbo Excursion Reminder Prepayments are now being accepted for the Year 3/4 Dubbo excursion. Estimated costs are $350 per child. Payments can be sent into school, or made online via $Make a Payment tab on the school’s website. Red Nose Day We are holding Red Nose Day at school Friday, 29th June. This is an annual fund raiser for Sids and Kids. We will have a limited number of products available for purchase at the office leading up to Friday. I was fortunate to get a place in the Riverina PSSA hockey team. We played our carnival at Narellan. On Monday afternoon we did training. It was the first time I had played with this team. But I did know some of them from Griffith and Wagga hockey. We played on turf which is different to play on because in Griffith we play on grass. It’s faster on turf then on grass. I got played in three different positions. My favourite was centre half (midfield). We played eight games, won one and we played better as we went along. Our last game was certainly our best. In the end I made new friends, developed my hockey skills and had a great time and I hope next year other year fives make the team.

Riverina X-Country Congratulations to Ava, Dane, Serena, Joe and Aaron on their wonderful efforts at Riverina Cross Country, their sportsmanship and representation of our school was outstanding. Special congratulations to Ava who came 3rd in the 12/13 year age girls, she will be heading to the State carnival next term. Good luck Ava. Canteen Menu Update Please take note of the following changes to the school's Canteen Menu. An updated Menu is attached for your information. Slush Puppies Not available now until Term 4. Chicken Burgers Starting this week the crumbed chicken burger will be replaced with a Flame Grilled

Chicken Breast burger. This is to enhance healthy food options on the menu. Kinder Enrolment 2018 Registration of new children for Kindergarten in 2019 is now being taken at Lake Wyangan Public School. New and existing families please contact the school and add their child’s name, date of birth and address details to our Kindergarten Register. A School Handbook, Enrolment Form and Kinder Information Pack will be sent to each registered family in Term 3. AIR Immunisation History Statement on Enrolment From 1 April 2018, all school Principals are required to request an Immunisation Certificate from each student applying to Enrol in a Primary or Secondary School. The Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) records the immunisations given to children and sends parents an AIR Immunisation History Statement after their child has turned 4 years of age. Further information is in the attached flyer on Skoolbag or can be obtained in the office.

Reminder - Premier’s Reading Challenge All students Kinder to Year 6 were registered to enable participation in the 2018 Premier’s Reading Challenge. To complete the challenge students need to read 20-25 books depending on their year level before September. Most of the books selected need to be from the Premier’s Reading Challenge Booklist, with five books of personal choice also allowed towards their total. Students record the books they have read online at home or school through the Premier’s Reading Challenge webpage. Class teachers showed students at school how this was done and sent an instruction sheet home with user name and password, for parents to support their child’s participation. School Holiday Dates Term 2 ends next Friday, 6th July 2018. Monday, 23rd July is a Staff Development Day. Students return to school for Term 3 on Tuesday, 24th July 2018. Reports Half yearly reports are planned to be distributed to students at the end of the term for all classes. Please keep an eye out in bags so they aren’t lost or damaged. Parent interviews to discuss progress were conducted in Term 1 and will be held again in Term 3. Please remember you don’t need to wait if something is important. Parents and carers are welcome to arrange a meeting with class teachers at any time through the office on 6962 3217. Community News 2018 Schools Spectacular Tickets for the “2018 Schools Spectacular, The Greatest” go on sale to the general public at 9.00am on Monday, 2 July 2018 through www.ticketek.com.au. The event will be held at Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park on Friday 23rd November and 24th November 2018. Griffith Regional Art Gallery – For Country, For Nation Exhibition The Griffith Regional Art Gallery will be hosting the touring exhibition from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, that commemorates the sacrifice and dedication of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ service in defence of Australia. The exhibition will run from Saturday, 16th June to Sunday, 22nd July 2018.
