Is a laboratory accredited by ACCREDIA n° 0377 L according to UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025 that performs Mechanical, Chemical, Metallographic, Corrosion and Non Destructive Testing on metal materials.

LABORATORIO PROVE MATERIALI S. MARCO is a fundamental partner for everyone who wants to be RECOGNISED for the QUALITY of their products, because they know that working with QUALITY means to be more COMPETITIVE and MEET the CUSTOMERS’ REQUIREMENT ... allowing them to be MARKET LEADER.

The TRUE concept of QUALITY starts from the application of the norms and finish with the Customer’s satisfaction, passing through the critical sensibility of the technician, testing of the “goodness” of the certified numbers, having clear and correct trade relations and investing in the training of human resources.

LABORATORIO PROVE MATERIALI S. MARCO S.r.l.

WE PERFORM

Mechanical test:• Tension test at room temperature and at elevated temperature• Stress-rupture • Reduction of area, tension test perpendicular to the surface (Z-test)• Impact test at room temperature and low temperature (until -196°C)• Brinell, Rockwell (scale B e C) e Vickers (HV5, HV10 e HV30) hardness• Vickers (HV0,5 and HV1) micro-hardness• Bend test, • And much more: fracture test, compression test, load, pull-out test, flattening test, drift-expanding test, flanging test, ring expanding test, ring tensile test, tensile shear test of joints, tension test on cruciform and lapped joint, shear test (cladding) etc.

Metallography on ferrous and non-ferrous materials:• Macrographic examination for: - evaluation of welded joint and brazed joint (with dimensional relief) - evaluation of forgings, rollings and castings (defects, morphology and/or fibers layout)• Micrography examination for: - inclusion content evaluation - average grain size evaluation - determining volume fraction by systematic manual point count or by image analisys - measurement of thickness of hardened surface layers (carburizing, nitriding and surface hardening) - determination of depth of decarburization - classification of banding structure index on case hardening steels

Chemical analisys (with Optical Emission Spectrometry) of:• Iron alloys (steels, stainless steel, duplex, precipitation hardening, tool steel, free cutting grades, gray cast iron, ductile cast iron…), • Nichel alloys (Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy e Incoloy)• Copper alloys (Brasses, Bronzes)• Aluminium alloys (Al-Si, Al-Mg, Al-Cu, Al-Zn... alloys)• Titanium alloys

Analysis with the method of the heat conductivity after fusion in a current of inert gas of:• Hydrogen (H) and • Nitrogen (N)

Analysis with the method of Infrared after fusion in a current of inert gas of:• Oxygen (O)

Test for resistance evaluation to:• Intergranular corrosion (Streicher, Huey and Strauss Test)• Pitting corrosion

Non Destructive Test (NDT) • Ultrasonic examination (UT)• Magnetoscopic examination (MT)• Liquid penetrant examination (PT)• Visual examination (VT)• Radiographic Interpretationperformed by certified personnel acc. to ISO 9712 and/or SNT-TC-1A and also:• HV5 hardness with portable hardness tester• Positive Material Identification (PMI) on Iron alloys (with the capability to determine, in addition to C, also P, S, N, As, Sn e B), Nichel alloys, Copper alloys and Alluminium alloys• Ferrite content evaluation with ferritescope on materials and welds of austenitic and duplex stainless steel • Relative magnetic permeability (μ

r) evaluation of austenitic stainless steels

Heat treatments:• Up to 1200°C with cycle programming, control heating and cooling temperature gradient and digital re-cording of temperature (furnace and piece) such as solution annealing, tempering, normalization, anneal-ing, sensitization, tempering, stress relieving and PWHT. We can treat pieces wise up to 100kg in weight and up to 600x400x300mm overall.

Mechanical machining of specimens:• Build the specimens internally using CNC machines. This leads to clear advantages in terms of timing, whilst ensuring the positions of sampling and the respect of tolerances on shape and dimensions of sam-ples required by the rules.

Consulting• To understand the causes that have led to a rupture of a particular (Failure Analysis). The tests can ensure a response about the causes of failure, if possible suggesting metallurgical solutions to be put in place in order to avoid the recurrence of the failure• Technical assistance in case of disputes (even in legal field)• For interpretation and understanding of specific requests. Studying customer requirements and through the know-how provide a opinion about feasibility and precautions to be taken to ensure that the required tests can give satisfactory results.• To study the feasibility of some special tests with readiness to build the necessary equipments.• To support the Customer in obtaining the certification sec. UNI EN 1090-2 by carrying out the tests necessary for the qualification of thermal cutting, drilling...

The tests for which the Laboratory is accredited by ACCREDIA can be downloaded from the page https://www.labsanmarco.it/Allegati/Prove_Accreditate_Accredia.pdf; the other activities mentioned (heat treatment and consulting) are not covered by ACCREDIA accreditation

1) it’s accredited by ACCREDIA n° 0377 L according to UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025 since 20022) it lives accreditation by ACCREDIA as the CROWNING of a journey searching for the QUALITY and not the MEANS to SELL TESTS3) it has always believed in QUALITY; Created in 1988, it was the first company in the province of Vicenza with Quality System certified ISO 9003 in 1991; then certified ISO 9002 in 1998 and finally accredited SINAL (previous name of ACCREDIA) in February 20024) since 1992 takes part VOLUNTARILY to international INTERLABORATORY CIRCUITS, so it has the “control” of its processes and can ensure the goodness of the certified “numbers” (recently ACCREDIA HAS IMPOSED partecipation to these circuits at accredited laboratories)5) it’s IMPARTIAL because PRIVATE and INDIPENDENT6) It provides a QUICK and TIMELY SERVICE with an excellent QUALITY / PRICE ratio7) ASSIST its customer in finding SOLUTIONS to problems of metallurgical nature.8) COLLABORATE with many CUSTOMERS and national and international INSPECTION ORGANIZATIONS because it enjoys their CREDIT related to the REPUTATION that it has been able to build day after day during years of work

WHY CHOOSE LABORATORIOPROVE MATERIALI S. MARCO?

FIND US

William Thomson, Baron of Kelvin (1824-1907 British physicist and engineer who, among the various things, developed the Kelvin scale of absolute temperature and invented the electric telegraph) claimed that “... only when you can measure and express in numbers what you were talking, then you know just to express something of it, but when you can not put a number on the object of your investigation, then your knowledge is poor and unsatisfactory. “

We (our work is to “sell numbers”) are aware that a number is useful in measure of how much “good it is”.A test, to provide reliable results, must be done well, otherwise ... it is not worth make it!We know that “NOT QUALITY” COSTS more than QUALITY’... and we would like to have the opportunity to demonstrate the benefits you have when working in QUALITY, both in ECONOMIC terms then in terms of IMAGE and SELF-AWARENESS. If you must or want to do tests, and pay for them, demand they are done right!
