If your child will be attending Drivers Education during 2019, please join Scott Martin on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 6:30 to 8 pm in the Auditorium. Parents of future drivers are strongly encouraged to attend the Parent Meeting to learn what will be covered in their student’s Driver Educa-tion course, and to refresh some of their own knowledge and driving habits to set a good example for responsible behind the wheel driving. Parents that attend the meeting will receive a certificate for complet-ing the class, and will also have the option of reducing the required 50 hours of behind the wheel driving with their student to 40 hours.

Behind-The-WheelPlease call the Community Education Office (507-895-5150) to schedule your Behind-The-Wheel times. We recommend calling us, to schedule their first drive, as soon as your child passes their permit test. Six hours of Behind-The-Wheel needs to be completed with the instructors prior to taking the driver’s test. Pick-up for Behind-The-Wheel is the Dis-trict Office Parking Lot.

If you need to cancel or change a Behind the Wheel ap-pointment, you must do so with at least 48 hours notice, or a late cancellation or “no show” fee may be charged.

Scott MartinLead Instructor for Classroom and

Behind the Wheel Scott has 17 years of teaching experi-ence. He has spent time coaching, teaching technical education and developing suc-cessful after school programing for at-risk youth. His ability to connect with students of all abilities is a gift he loves to share. Scott has the calm and light hearted personality it takes to put students at ease as they venture out into the world driving. When Scott isn’t at school he is spending time with his wife and three sons. As res-idents of La Crescent you are likely to see them driving around in Scott’s 65 Mustang or just in the garage working on one of the family projects. Scott can’t remember a time when he wasn’t waiting to get behind the wheel him-self. He understands the excitement and responsiblity that comes with learning to drive. He is happy to share that excitement with his students.

Travis MayerBehind the Wheel I am the owner of Enhanced Driv-ing Institute located in Onalaska WI. I opened my school a little over 3 years ago and we have quickly become the number #1 School in the coulee region. I have been driving with La Crescent students for some time now and it has been a blast. A little about myself. I have 3 children, 2 are college students and my youngest is a senior at Holmen High School. I coached all my kids sports when able and coaching the kids just comes natural to me. Time after time the kids comment on how fast the 2-hour lesson went because we have fun. We learn to be safe drivers and have fun doing it. I have a passion for keeping the kids safe and it truly shows. I look forward to driving with the kids.

Deb BauerBehind the Wheel I live in Trempealeau, WI with “my boys” (My husband, Tim and our dogs, Drake and Leo) This picture was taken in Perrot State Park which is one of our favorite places to take the boys hiking. Although, it might be more appropriate to say these two 90-pound pups take us hiking! I joined the EDI team in the spring of 2018 and love it. I have 15+ years of training adults in the corporate world but nothing compares to helping a teenager grow and develop into a safe, confident driver. The transformation is amazing! The students also help me to learn new ways to explain all aspects of driver’s education. It’s not a ‘one-size fits all’ topic and I love the challenge of working with various skill

levels.

CHALKFEST!2nd Annual! All Ages, Singles or Teams!

WHAT IT IS:

Imagine La Crescent-Hokah Secondary School Parking Lot overtaken by a day-long firestorm of creativity and positive community energy, culminating in yards and yards of sidewalk space displaying amazing chalk artwork. That’s Chalk-fest. This event will take place Saturday, September 21, on the beautiful school campus. It’s part art festival and part family-friendly fun.

HOW IT WORKS:

Our school campus has large sidewalks running around the perimeter, where registered artists of all ages from the community can create elaborate, large-scale chalk artwork. Throughout the day, artists will create their work as visitors watch their drawings come to life. Participants (individuals or groups) need to pre-register to reserve a spot.

REGISTRATION: $29

Class #8200

Registration fee includes sidewalk square, chalk palette, gloves, sponges, hairspray as fixative.

Purchase a special Chalkfest t-shirt for $12. Must be pre-ordered. #8200-02

Space sizes are determined by the sidewalk seams. There are different sizes in various quantities.
