Moroni is an incredible example of strength, faith, and perseverance. It musthave been incredibly di cult wandering alone in the wilderness, continually beingchased by enemies, all the while carrying many heavy historical artifacts. This wasafter having watched the moral descent of his people, and failing in his ght toin uence them towards repentance and righteousness. eedless to say, he certainly

had faced incredible hardship, and displayed immense patience in dealing with hissituation.

!ome of the most poignant of scriptures come from Moroni during this periodof time. I imagine the charge he received to nish his father"s life"s wor# must havebeen $uite a burden, especially given the priority of content he would have had dueto the fall of his society. Their fall must have impacted his decision concerning whichconcepts to stress, especially given that their wea#nesses would li#ely be shared bymany in the last days. It is fairly uncertain about %ust how much Moroni #new aboutour day, but it is li#ely that the &ord gave him as much understanding as possible.

This means that the teachings Moroni would stress in the nal chapters of the

'oo# of Mormon would be concepts insu ciently stressed previously. This gives anew light on the material in Moroni"s portion of the record. Indeed, the sacramentprayers were mentioned, but never fully detailed in the previous portions of therecord. This would prove to be instrumental in the restoration of the church, as evenbefore the 'oo# of Mormon was fully translated, (oseph !mith would receivesu cient revelation as to the process and formalities associated with thesacrament. The sacrament is a continuation of and extension for baptism and thegift of the )oly *host. It enables individuals to more fully and deeply receive +hristin their lives. Moroni #new this and wanted individuals to have this closeness with+hrist and the )oly !pirit.

The &ight of +hrist is an incredibly important concept as well. I imagine thatMoroni received it concerning his mission. I say this because he may very well haveblamed himself for the descent of his people. )e may have believed that if hewor#ed harder or was perhaps more diligent as a missionary, then his people maynot have fallen from righteousness. )owever, in #nowing that all individuals havethe &ight of +hrist and the ability to discern right from wrong, it would alleviate a lotof pressure and perhaps guilt. I imagine that he included this because it had such animpression on him.

f course, the most powerful teachings Moroni could include is that of faithand hope. These are teachings which li#ely would have been di cult to believe inhis circumstances. )e would have often lost hope and had obstacles which may

have caused his faith to waver. )owever, he included these lessons because of thepower that both hope and faith have. I"m not sure how much he #new we would relyon these teachings, but due to his own hope and faith, future generations andcountless individuals have found strength.

Moroni"s struggles and example of perseverance serves as a perfect modelfor how we should be in the face of di culty. -espite having struggles, he soughtpeace and answers to his concerns. fter having received revelation from the

/ather, he passed his lessons down to future generations. ll of this displayed faithand hope in the face of incredible hardship.
