The Village of Nues and thefamily of Chad Schieber whodied during the Chicagomarathon both have hiredlawyers.
"There's no lawsuit filed,"explained Attorney JamesJudge, representing the vil-lage of Nues. "We filed a peti-tion to preserve 911 tapes andrecords."
Although no lawsuit hasbeen filed as of yet, it issomething the family is con-sidering.
The family of the 35-year-old Michigan man hiredattorney, Gilbert Ross, to findout what happened andinvestigate whether theyshould file a wrongful deathlawsuit.
"We're hoping Nues won'tget sued because they didn'tdo anything wrong," assuredJudge. "They were neverlost."

The Illinois Nut and Candystore in Skokie is reaching outto the American Cancer Societyto help kick-off the GreatAmerican Smokeout in aunique and meaningful way.
The candy store will take10% off purchases if smokersturn in a pack or packs of ciga-rettes. Participants also receivea gourmet lollipop. This pro-motion will run from Nov. 15
throughout the month.The 31st anniversary of the
Great American Smokeout willtake place on Thursday, Nov. 15and with no better timing,Illinois will become smoke-freein January.
"I unfortunately have a num-ber of friends who have variousforms of cancer," said DavidLevine, of the Illinois Nut andCandy store, who is hopingthat the effort will help peopleto stop smoking.
Skokie Mayor George VanDusen met with Levine, tworepresentatives from theAmerican Cancer Society andMarcus Randle, a man who hasbeen smoking for 38-years andis determined to quit smoking.
Randle said that he wants toquit because of health reasonsas well as spiritual ones. In thepast, he has tried to stop smok-ing on his own and with assis-tance and hasn't been able to.He is considering tryingacupuncture to help him quitor whatever it takes to live ahealthier life.
