madeoutofrivers, includingSg. Klang,Sg. Bertek, Sg. Penang, Sg. Sementa, Sg.Agas, Sg. Kandas, Sg. Binjai, Sg. Kapar,Sg. Jati, Sg. Aur, Sg. Rasau, and Sg.Putus. Thenameofthisriverremainstothisday. KlangbecameimportantonlyafterthedeclineofKualaSelangorafterthedeathofSultanMuhammad(1826-1857). In 1875, Klang was chosen asthe capital city of Selangor before thecapital citywasmovedtoKualaLumpurin1880. In1886, Klangwastoutedasa

Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley

TheGreaterKualaLumpur/KlangValley(Greater KL/KV) extends beyond theboundaries of Kuala Lumpur, coveringan area of 2,793.27 square km. It is

dened as the area covered by 10municipalities, each governed by localauthorities: Kuala Lumpur City Hall(DBKL), Perbadanan Putrajaya, ShahAlamCityCouncil (MBSA), PetalingJayaCity Council (MBPJ), Klang MunicipalCouncil (MPK), Kajang MunicipalCouncil (MPKj), Subang JayaMunicipalCouncil (MPSJ), Selayang Municipal

PrimeMinisterDatoSeriNajibTunRazakas an urban agglomeration to spurthe countrys economic growth by thebillionsintheEconomic TransformationProgrammeannouncedin2010.

In 2010, the Greater KL/KV populationwasestimatedatcloseto7 millionandit contributed about RM263 billion to

the nations Gross National Income(GNI).

Gurdwara Sahib Klang

The first Gurdwara Sahib was a wooden structure with an attap rooflocatedalong Jalan RayaBarat. Itwasbuilt in 1900 on asmall pieceof

landof500 squarefeet. By 1985, thenumberofSikhsresiding in Klangand surrounding areas rose to 1,200 people, leading to the need for bigger

premises, but there was no land availab leto expand the Gurdwara Sahib. In1989, theGovernment offered the Sikh community anew site about an acre in size, which is thelocation of the present Gurdwara Sahibatwo and a ha lf storey brick building. Theconstruction took two years and was

completedby theendof1995.

urdwara Sahib Klang asal ialah sebuah struktur kayu berbumbung atapyangterletaksepanjangJalanRayaBarat. Iadibinapadatahun1900 diatas

tanahseluas500 kakipersegi. Padatahun1985, bilanganpendudukSikhdiKlangdankawasanberhampiranbertambahsehingga 1,200 orang. Inimembawa

kepada keperluan untuk premis yang lebihbesar, tetapi tiada tanah yang boleh digunakanuntuk mengembangkan Gurdwara Sahib. Padatahun 1989, kerajaan menawarkan komunitiSikhsebuahtapakbaruseluas1 ekar, iaitulokasisekarang Gurdwara Sahib sebuah bangunanbata 2 tingkat. Kerja pembinaan mengambil

masa2 tahundandisiapkanpadatahun1995.

Gereja Our Lady of Lourdes

Gereja Our Lady of Lourdes yangdibina pada tahun 1928 merupakansalah satu rumah ibadat tertua di
