Technologydevelopment
Rainwater harvesting
1995-1998
The rainfed technology developed and adopted in the Ghatampur watershed was found suitable,
Developed in the last 10 years
and their Conservation & Adoption of High Yielding Varieties in rainfed conditions
economically viable and ecologically sustainable in managing the problems of the ravinous watershed of Yamuna river namely; Contour bunding, Land leveling and smoothening, Contour furrowing, Field bunding & leveling, Sunken structures along with Vegetative barriers of Vetiver, Sacchrum munja and Rambans in controlling soil loss & runoff which resulted in an overall increase of 20 – 25 percent in the yield level of crops like; wheat, barley, gram, mustard, linseed, pea, soybean, groundnut, pigeon pea and sorghum in the project.
Technology development
Planting Technique for salt affected soil
2005-2008
Neem (Azadirachta indica) could be grown successfully with Auger hole technique of pit digging along with 50 % replacement of original pit soil by filling mixture (FYM@ 5 kg + Gypsum @ 50%GR+ Soil) on sodic soil under agro-forestry system.
Success Story Performance of MPTs in Wasteland at RSS, Daleep-nagar
1994-1998
Performance of the Multipurpose Tree Species (MPTs) on sodic soil were found better in order of Acacia nilotica, Albizia procera, Eucalyptus terticornis, Dalbergia sissoo, Leucaena leucocephala, Azadirachta indica, Cassiasiamea & T. arjuna.
Methodology(Genetic Stock)
Selection of CPTs & Cryo-preserved at NBPGR, New Delhi
2005-2012
Selection of 48 CPTs of Jatropha & 42 CPTs of Karanja in the area jurisdiction of the C.S. Azad University and cryo-preserved in NBPGR, New Delhi and 22 CPTs of Jatropha were allotted IC No. from IC-540951-56 & IC-540960-75.
Technology Developed
Synergistic cropping of summer groundnut with Jatropha
2006-2007
The groundnut cultivar Dh 86 produced significantly higher yield under agro forestry system with Jatropha and pruning technique was also standardized for intercropping. The Jatropha plants were pruned at 65 cm height from ground level.
Technology Developed
Developed agro-technology
2004-2007
Developed agro-technology of important medicinal plants viz., Safed musli, Aswagandha, Kalmegh, Tulsi, Milk thistal, Satavar, Isabgoal, Sarpgangh and Stevia etc.
Concept Ex-situ conservation
2004-2005
Ex-situ conservation of 110 Medicinal & Aromatic plants species in Azad Herbal Garden established under Dept of Forestry.
Methodology Erosional behaviour of soils of Shahpur- Basdev watershed of Distt. Hardoi
2008-2011
Erodibility behaviour found in order of : silvipastoral > agri-horti> cover cropping > vegetative barrier > strip cropping > contour cropping > precision land leveling > bunding > gully plugging > control that warrant prompt attention for effective implementation of various intensive soil conservation measures in the watershed for conservation of natural resources and sustainable production.
Technology Developed
Production technology of linseed in double cropping sequences
2006-2008
Growing of rainfed linseed in double crop sequences with pulse crops is more remunerative than double cropping with cereals or mono cropping of linseed. Among pulses crops sequences green gram-linseed sequence with 40 kg N ha-1 to linseed was proved to be the best combination by producing maximum yield and with highest B: C ratio.
Highlights of Salient Research
Screening of Jatropha genotype in sodic soil at CSAUA&T, Kanpur
2006-2012
The plantation of Jatropha on sodic land having pH more than 9.5, ESP >80 and EC >1.30 dSm-1, will not be feasibility to grow because the root development of Jatropha is restricted and died due to harmful ecology.
Methodology(Genetic Stock)
Evaluation of selected bio-formulations
2014-2016
Ecological success of compatible microbes in consortia isolated from rice rhizosphere for growth and yield of mung bean (Vigna radiata L.). Definition Bacillus sp. strain RIII-2 16S ribosomal RNA gene, partial sequence.ACCESSION-KX301007,VERSION KX301007 GI:1052232158
29. Significant contributions in the area of specialization ( not more than 5)
1. Grow Neem (Azadirachta indica) successfully with Auger hole technique of pit digging along with 50 per cent replacement of original pit soil by filling mixture (FYM + Gypsum + Soil) on sodic soil under agro-forestry system. Tested Multipurpose Tree Species (MPTs) on sodic soil which were found in order of Acacia nilotica, Albizia procera, Eucalyptus terticornis, Dalbergia sissoo, Leucaena leucocephala, Azadirachta indica, Cassia siamea and Terminalia arjuna. Trees also substantial improved microclimate and physico-chemical properties of soil i.e. decrease in pH, EC and ESP.
2. Conducted National, Progeny, Zonal and Sivlicultural trials on Jatropha at RRS Daleepnagar and SIF, Kanpur under the Project on National Network on Integrated Development of Jatropha and Karanja.
