SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS)SDGs that are most relevant to Kuala Lumpur in addressingCovid-19 Pandemic are SDG 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 and SDG 11.

NUA (New Urban Agenda) focuses on environmentallysustainable and resilient urban development.

Combining SDGs and NUA, we have a more comprehensiveframework to manage the Covid-19 pandemic.

SDGs MITIGATING MEASURES TO COPE WITH COVID-19 PANDEMICMitigating measures to cope with Covid-19 pandemic :

a) Social distancing

b) Wearing of face mask

c) Frequent disinfection

These measures affect other urban systems tremendously.

Affirmative actions on the local economy and improve thewellbeing of city dwellers by:

a) Facilitating the small traders to run their businesses inmore allowable areas in the city.

b) Creating new attractions to revitalise neglected backlanes in CBD areas with attractive murals and newplacemaking.

c) Generating more job opportunities.

d) Kuala Lumpur Pedestrian And Cycling Masterplan 2019 - 2028

SDGs and mitigating measures for Covid-19 are factored in thepreparation of these plans in lights of KL-ites’ aspirations.

Covid-19 pandemic has introduced a new globalthreat, one that is unprecedented.

Humankind has a strong resolve and we will findsolutions to overcome this pandemic.

Kuala Lumpur will continue to address the newdifficulties faced by KL-ites who are trying to earna living in the city in line with the needs of theSustainable Development Goals.
