Welcome to our Third Annual Production Sale “The Harvest”. It has been brought to our attention that a lot breeders do not know we

have cows and more cows.

Yes, we have Purebred Simmental Cows

Yes, we have Percentage Simmental Cows

Yes, we have Commercial Simmental Cows

Yes, we have Angus Cows

Yes, we have a few elite Hereford Cows

You ask “How do you get so many cows?’ We have had cows prior to our 28 years of marriage. When Jame’s mom, Sue, was planning

our wedding in 1985, friends would ask how is the wedding coming along she would reply, “The wedding plans are easy. Do you have

a house to rent and place to put 25 – 30 head of Simmentals!” Needless to say we found a house to rent and a place for our Simmentals.

We bought our first group of 25 Commercial Angus pairs from Hugh Fortner in Dana, Indiana. They were all half sisters for $650.00 a

pair. Jame’s grandfather said we were crazy to pay that kind of money for cattle!. When that group was paid for by using a Purebred

Simmental Bull “Krieger’s Asphalt” an ET x Singletree Connie 301N son. We bought another group of Commercial Angus Bred from

Kenny Torr’s Dad of Greencastle, Indiana. Again we bred them to a Purebred Simmental bull. We have always bought close genetic made

cattle and used Purebred Simmental bulls. This gives us more consistency in the offspring. All of our Cattle run on reclaimed coal mine

ground. It takes up to ten acres per cow and they have to walk up to one mile per day for water. We have been very fortunate over the

years to be able to buy more cows and acquire more land. We have bought various genetic groups of cattle, which gave us a stronger

Purebred Simmental Herd. Along with building Anna’s show herd from the ground up. Our current Angus base has been from Quirk

Land & Cattle. We have always used good Purebred bulls on both the Commercial and Purebred groups of cattle. Herd bulls have been

purchased from Hudson Pines Farm and Pine Ridge Simmentals.

We are a start to finish Purebred and Commercial cattle Operation. We use our Commercial cows for recips from our Donor Battery.

We sell feeders or fats by the pot loads depending on the markets.

A lot of breeders never knew that Jame showed cattle at the American Royal, National Western, the South West International Livestock

Exposition and of course the International Livestock Exposition in when it was held in Chicago. I get tickled when I think back on

Anna’s first Eastern Regional in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 2002. Ricky Bridges, said to me, “You’re not too bad for a City Slicker!” As I

took care of three head for Trish Cunningham, of Ohio, Jake Hege of Indiana and Anna’s heifers. I explained to him that three head was

a cake walk after dragging 20 head to county fairs in Illinois all Summer or to the Indiana, Illinois, Missouri or Iowa State Fairs.

Another favorite conversation with Josh McCubbins. I gave Josh a hard time about his Mom, Mary Jean, doing his before school chores.

I told him that if I wanted to show my steers in Chicago, Kansas City or Denver I had to feed and water my calves before school every

day. And after school I would tie them to the front of the School bus outside to Rinse and brush dry, walk/drag them a half mile down

the road and run back a half mile back to the feed bunk!

When it comes down to it, everyone here at Krieger Farms is deeply rooted in the cattle business and has been for their entire life.

We hope that our customers share that same passion for the cattle industry, and see the excitement and dedication we have to our

operation after looking through this catalog. Besides our love for lots of cattle and lots of land, we believe in the Junior Programs. Check

out our Junior Incentive Program. Needless to say our families are the result of these programs: 4-H, FFA and the AJSA.

I would like to personally invite each and every one of you to attend The Harvest on

October 6th.

First, I would like to thank the crew that helps in making this a success. Rusty and Brad

are here with me everyday and I could not ask for a better group of guys to have. Josh

Nunn is a fill in when we need him and is always more than happy to help in whatever

way he can.

As you look through the catalog, I believe that everyone will find something that will

benefit them and their program. We cut back on the amount of opens this year and

offered our best spring calves. This is one solid set. I believe every one of them will be

very competitive in the ring and ultimately make great productive cows or even donors.

We diversified the breds this year by offering the heart of our Angus heifers. Several

of these girls are donors in the making. The Simmental breeds are solid from top to

bottom. They may not all be out of big time AI sires but don’t let that fool you. The

quality is still there and we are very excited to offer them to you.

We are also offering three donors and it’s worth the trip just to see them. They

are all highly productive females with a lot of good in them. Lastly, are the genetic

opportunities, Wonder, Empress, and the two Angus; 301N and Barb. I could write a

page on these two but I will let you decide.
