MYSEP DESIGN SOFTWARE
MYSEP DESIGN SOFTWARE
MySep is a computer program that enables the user to design separators and scrubbers in detail, right
down to the selection of suitable separation internals. MySep can be seen as an extension of common
process modeling tools used to simulate an entire fl ow scheme. With the output from these process
simulations, each vessel can be designed in detail using MySep. MySep effectively enables the user to
determine vessel sizes, select internals and assess the associated overall performance of each vessel.
MySep can also be used to evaluate an existing design and determine its theoretical performance based on
actual operating data.
INTRODUCTION TO KRANJI
Kranji Solutions provides comprehensive support for both upstream and downstream Oil and Gas
companies, with a focus on separation processes.
Our engineers work with world leading design software to analyse, evaluate and improve existing designs.
We combine oil and gas industry technology with our own expertise to provide complete solutions.
Working with our partners across the globe, we use our extensive experience gained by years of working
within the industry to deliver innovative solutions with exceptional effi ciency.
Kranji pride ourselves on innovative techniques and as such refuses to compromise on quality, therefore
we have developed our own advanced software in order to better understand and design complicated
separator equipment. MySep is one of the best software packages available in the design of separators and
scrubbers and with Kranji’s expertise, training and guidance, you’ll see a quick return on your investment.

MYSEP DESIGN SOFTWARE
Areas of application of MySep:
MySep adds value to your project, from Conceptual Design through to daily Operations. It is all about you
being in control of the design, its performance and consequently your peace of mind.
OVERVIEW
MySep is set up so that the user is effectively guided through the design steps in the most effi cient manner.
At the same time, all aspects of the design are accessible at any time.
The effects of user input on key aspects of the design (e.g. droplet sizes, performance, residence times, etc)
are calculated immediately and shown to the user in real-time. This allows fast optimisation of the design.
MySep has built-in correlations for prediction of mist fractions, droplet size distribution and separation
effi ciencies at the various separation stages within the vessel.

■ Approximate vessel sizes as input to concept and layout definition and project cost estimates.
■ Determine vessel, nozzle and upstream piping sizes.
■ Determine liquid level settings.
■ System optimisation by balancing the designs of interacting vessels.
■ Specify suitable internal types.
■ Detail out vessel and nozzle sizes.
■ Detail out nozzle locations.
■ Detail out internals design and layout.
■ Verify vendor designs in detail.
■ Verify that final design meets the performance requirements.
■ Evaluate actual against calculated performance.
■ Vessel rating: Determine capacity and performance for new operating conditions.
■ Trouble shooting of exiting designs.
■ Input to debottlenecking activities.

Nonetheless, the user has the possibility to override these predictions. By entering overriding values and
reviewing the effect on overall performance, the user obtains insight in the sensitivity of the design.
While all the key design characteristics
are provided in detail in number
format, MySep also provides graphical
representation of the design. This is in
the form of various types of graphs as
well as a layout drawing of the vessel
and internals.
For example, the graph showing the
separation effi ciency of each separation
step in the vessel gives insight into
the performance contribution of each
separation step. This allows the user to
understand what is going on inside the
vessel as well as to swiftly identify areas
for further improvement of the design.
The layout drawing of the vessel
and internals is a to-scale, graphical
representation of the exact design
the user is preparing. The layout and
position of nozzles and internals can be
set as desired, and the layout drawing is
updated instantly.

MYSEP TRAINING COURSE
Process engineers and facility operations engineers with basic knowledge of separation vessels and
internals will be able to use MySep for basic design and verifi cation work. However, in order to take
full advantage of all the capabilities of MySep and create reliable and optimised designs, a more in-depth
understanding of separation equipment is required. To achieve this, it is recommended to follow a
specifi c MySep training course teaching the use of the program and designing separation equipment.
What you will learn:
■ Key elements of the Advanced Separation Course (see www.kranjisolutions.com)
■ How MySep works and how the knowledge from the Advanced Separation Course is applied
using MySep
■ How the design parameters are related
■ About design criteria
■ The iterative methodology for designing new build separation equipment
■ How to assess the operational performance of existing separation equipment using MySep
