Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Region 8 Headquarters, Denver, COThe nine-story, mid-rise structure has 292,000-sf of office and retail space, and 103,000-sf of parking. The structure is designed to resist specified blast forces originating at specified distances from the primary structural frame elements and therefore to prevent progressive collapse. LEED Gold.

Oregon Military Department, Armed Forces Reserve Center (AFRC), Camp Withycombe, Clackamas, ORThe project consists of a 250,000 sf AFRC, in several one- and two-story steel framed buildings. The AFRC provides administrative, training, kitchen, family welfare, recruiting and retention, physical fitness, and vehicle maintenance space for 9 Oregon Army National Guard units and 8 Army Reserve units.

DESIGN-BUILD EXPERIENCEKPFF values the inherent opportunity to integrate constructability with great design in a design-build project. This project delivery method enables us to work directly with the contractor from project onset. In this context, we are able to collaborate with the contractor to determine the most appropriate structural system that will meet the project’s budget; allow for construction costs to be determined up front; provide design services for project elements that are the contractor’s responsibility; and help to solve construction challenges. Nearly twenty percent of our workload utilizes the design-build method.
