The Registration fee includes workshop kit, food and accommodation. OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP 1. To promote open source library management system for better administration and management of libraries. 2. To popularize the KOHA (Integrated Library System) among the librarians, library science teachers and students. 3. To train the library professionals to have the technical know how about installation, customization and running of various library applications through KOHA. 4. To form a network among the participant library professionals for professional advancement and learning. TARGET PARTICIPANTS Participants of the Workshop are Library Science Professionals from Universities, Colleges, Schools, and other Institutions. Library and Information Science students and teachers can also participate in the Workshop. OPERATING PLATFORM & METHODOLOGY Lectures, demonstration, discussions and extensive practical sessions will be available. A live DVD based on Ubuntu Linux and latest version of KOHA will be distributed to participants. RESOURCE PERSONS The workshop sessions will be handled by reputed Academicians and Computer Librarians.

MARIAN LIBRARYFully computerized, Marian Library offers its users fullaccess to interactive media and hardcopies thatcomplement the teaching-learning process. The Library hasa very affluent array of national and international books,journals and online databases. At present the library has18300 volumes and subscription to 190 journals. Onlinedatabases of the library include INFLIBNET, N-List, IEEEXplore Digital Library DELNET, Questia etc.

In its academic pursuit the library has organized severalacademic and technical programmes in the college likeInternational Workshop on UNESCO’s WINISIS/GENISIS from6-9 September 2008,etc.

The Digital Library, Career Centre and UGC Network ResourceCentre provide the ‘extra boost’ essential in the learningprocess of the students.

MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY LIBRARYEstablished in 1989, the Library has a collection of about44720 books, 1400 Ph.D thesis and a current subscriptionto more than 360 journals, of which 150 are international.The Library also has access to more than 7000 onlinejournals and databases including Sci- Finder Scholar underthe UGC Infonet Digital Library Consortium. The Librarysubscribes online databases such as EBSCO, ProQuest andOxford Scholarship online. The Library has a very good ICTinfrastructure. The University Library provides Open Accessto the results of Doctoral Research in the universitytransparent to academics world wide.

INTRODUCTIONThe world is now witnessing an information revolution. Thesources of information have grown into multiplicity as aresult of this revolution. Libraries are now challenged toupdate their operations with the most advanced forms ofmanagement to accommodate all kinds of sources ofinformation and all kinds of its consumers. The wide rangeof print and electronic resources available in the librariesneeds to be automated to meet the growing demand. Theabundant availability of library solutions need to be carefullyanalyzed and appropriate one has to be chosen to best fitthe needs of the library professionals and the users of thelibrary resources. Open source solutions are providingbenefit to libraries by giving the opportunity to make it tailor-made, considering the special features of each library aswell as by reducing initial and ongoing costs.

THE WORKSHOP ON KOHAKOHA is considered as a highly sophisticated IntegratedLibrary System (ILS) in the open source domain which offersfull featured ILS including OPAC, circulation, cataloguing,acquisitions, serials control etc. KOHA is used world-wideby universities, public, school and special libraries. It wascreated in 1999 by Katipo Communications for theHorowhenua Library Trust in New Zealand.
