•«Kino" is one of the most popular Soviet rock groups of

the1980th. The leader, author of all texts and almost of all music was Victor Tsoy.

• “Kino" was formed of the participants of two Leningrad bit - groups " Chamber № 6 " and “Pilgrim“. In the first one Victor Tsoy played a bass guitar, the guitar player Alexey Rybin and the drums player Oleg Valinsky were from the second one.

• Creation of their common group under the name of "Гарин and гиперболоиды “

•In the spring of 1982 the musicians entered the Leningrad fate - club and met the influential representative fate – underground Boris Grebenshchikov, who liked the creativity of young group, and he offered them to work at studio together . Approximately at the same time the name of the collective was changed to “Kino"

• The sense of the name is that it is

brief, capacious, and also "synthetic", that

is artificial.

• The music of “Kino“,written mainly by Victor Tsoy, is close to stylistics of the post - punk and new wave, though he identified the genre with bit–music more than once.

• The songs always were distinguished by an abundance of fresh tunes, romantic and heroic pathos of the texts went together with realistic sketches of common life, constrained irony and a special bitter kind of humour.
