    With thesetalentsgathered, Kimbrough isabletodrawoninluencesranging from early

    20th century jazzchanneled through greats like Louis Armstrong and contemporary

    composer Randy Newmanto folk heroes of the 1970s, James Taylor and John Prine.

    AmericanSouth.

    AboutWendellKimbrough

    WendellKimbroughhasbeenmakingmusicsinceatleast1985.Hisfamilytellsthestoryof

    how, at2years old,Kimbroughwasnot yet speaking, classifyinghim a late talkerandgivinghis parents concern. But his reticence to speakwas coupledwithanaptitudefor

    melody and an enthusiasm for humming. Before long, the piano player at his family's

    churchdiscoveredthetoddlercarryinga familiartune. Amazed,shesoonhadKimbrough

    givinghisirstpublicmusicalperformancebefore theentirePresbyterianChurchofClio,

    Alabamaahummedrenditionofthe1860hymn,JesusLovesMe.

    Fastforward26years,andtheAlabamanativeisasinger/songwriterbasedinWashington,

    DC.On thelongjourney sincethat irstpublicperformance, Kimbroughgrew froma late

    talkerintoaself-taughtguitarist,pianoplayer,accordiondabbler,songwriter,andproducer.

    Afterhis 2009debut,FindYourWayHome,Kimbroughspent2yearswriting, performing,

    andrecording thesongs forThings That Cant Be Taught. In themeantime hebuilt anenthusiasticlocalfollowing,sought out themusicianswhosetalentsmakethenewalbum

    soar, andshared the stagewith indiesongsmithsDamienJurado, DennisonWitmer, and
