Kids play scheme axed for paedo taunts. EIGHT-YEAR-OLDS on the troubled Paulsgrove estate have axed a play-scheme after taunting helpers with chants of "paedophile - hang 'em". Terrified young mums cancelled a two-hour fun session for under-eights yesterday and refused to return to the strife-torn estate in Portsmouth, Hampshire. The youngsters' outbursts came after recent anti-paedophile protests on the estate, during which a 300-strong mob attacked houses and torched cars. Petrol bombs were also discovered during the protests and a policeman suffered a broken nose. Shocked MP Syd Rapson yesterday hit out at parents for taking their children on the protests. He said: "It's clear these protests left their mark on many children." City council spokesman Mark Wingham added: "We've got to try to build bridges in Paulsgrove, but it might take some time." One mum hit out: "Eight-year-olds should be told by their parents not to go with strangers, but they shouldn't be encouraged to say that." The two groups involved in putting on the fun day were too frightened to talk. On Monday leaders of a group campaigning to flush 20 alleged paedophiles out of their community surrendered their hit list to council officials. Vigilantes have so far driven five innocent families from their homes. Council chiefs have had to offer safehouses to infant day care center Quincy MA those on the list and 24 people have been arrested for public order offences.
