CLUB WELCOME

The Sutherland Sharks would like to extend a warm welcome to the committee, players and spectators from the Blacktown City Football Club. The Sharks are making gradual progress up the NPL ladder but our momentum has been slowed by the number of frustrating draws. The first grade haven’t lost a game since mid April and has shown excellent recent form. The addition of Charles Lokolingoy has added a new dimension to the front line which has added potency. Jeremy Cox is continuing his goal scoring form and will be looking to add to his tally today. Two recent signings have topped off the squad recently with Bai Antoniou and Jerry Skotadis agreeing to terms. They are both energetic, skilful players who will add greatly to the squad.
The Sharks have been away from home for 2 weeks in which time they defeated Hakoah 2-1 and had a 2-2 draw against APIA Leichhardt. Raul Romero has been a model of consistency. Blair Brown returns from suspension today and will be keen to resume the excellent form he has shown all year. Veteran
keeper Nathan Denham’s cameo appearances have been extended as, although Mitch Evans has returned, Anthony Bouzanis has had an appendix operation that will keep him out indefinitely.
Our opponents today are lying in third position so it is vital the Sharks close the gap on the top five with a win today.
The 18’s and 20’s continue to mix form with alternate wins and losses. One thing for sure is that there are a lot of talented players in these squads so we would be expecting to see them playing finals football.
The association clubs that have provided under 9 teams for tonight’s entertainment are Marton, Miranda, Cronulla RSL and Caringbah Redbacks. We really appreciate their attendance and the kids love to play and watch their senior team play at a high standard.
Lets hope we get the points tonight!!

MATCH PREVIEWSutherland Shark’s incredible mid season turn around faces its biggest challenge to date when Blacktown City visit’s Seymour Shaw Park on Saturday night.
The Sharks have gone seven games unbeaten to climb off the bottom of the ladder after they started the season with 10 games without a win.
Coach Terry Palapanis has retooled his squad in recent weeks, bringing in three former Sydney FC youth stars in Charles Lokolingoy, Liam McGing and latest acquisition Jerry Skotadis while Bai Antoniou is set to play this weekend too.
The signings, combined with the club’s veteran stars, have helped ignite a stuttering Sharks outfit.
Last week the Sharks fought back from 2-0 down to clinch a late draw against second placed APIA in yet another impressive performance
Blacktown City come into this game on a five game undefeated streak and are flying high at the top end of the table in third place.
Last week they were frustrated by Sydney Olympic in a thrilling 1-1 draw which very easily could’ve ended with a much bigger scoreline.
One big positive from the match for Blacktown was the performance of new signing Lachlan Campbell who excelled in both defence and attack.
However, Campbell’s emergence could prove bad news for centre back Daniel Collins who could be in for a battle to keep his starting position despite a strong season to date.
After scoring eight goals in two games in rounds 12 and 13, finding the back of the net didn’t come as easily for Blacktown last week. They will need to find their goal scoring touch again if they are to collect all three points against the Sharks.
Sutherland have quickly become a competition dark horse and if Blacktown City want to keep their chase for the Premiership alive then they better bring their best to Seymour Shaw Park.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers 2 – Sutherland Sharks 2 at Lambert Park
APIA Leichhardt’s Premiership hopes took a major blow at Lambert Park on Saturday as they we held to a 2-2 draw by a resurgent Sutherland Sharks.
Up 2-0 inside twenty minutes, the Tigers blew their lead to slip to a disappointing draw at home.
Chris Payne scored from the spot soon after kickoff before Tynan Diaz added a second barely ten minutes later, but Dominic Cox and Charles Lokolingoy were on hand to help Sutherland storm back in the second half.
After Wollongong’s loss to Sydney Olympic earlier in the afternoon, APIA might have finished the round within three points of the leaders, but instead sit five points off top spot – and with a few challengers behind them.
Blacktown City 1 – Sydney Olympic 1 at Lily Homes Stadium
Blacktown City and Sydney Olympic have shared the spoils after an exhilarating 1-1 draw at Lily Homes Stadium on Sunday.
It was a thrilling end to end encounter with Olympic unlucky not to snatch an unlikely victory in a frantic final minutes.
Joey Gibbs fired home for Blacktown midway through the second half, but it was quickly cancelled out when Olympic equalised only two minutes later through Radovan Pavicevic.
Both sides traded chances in crazy closing ten minutes but neither could find the breakthrough as they took only a point away from an enthralling contest.

U20’S MATCH PREVIEW
Sutherland Sharks return to Seymour Shaw in Round 15 following a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to APIA Leichhardt last Sunday; the task no easier this weekend with the arrival of Blacktown City.
The Sharks sit twelve points behind the leaders in fifth place, but perhaps more importantly remain level on points with Sydney FC and Rockdale above them, and Sydney Olympic below. A result on Saturday afternoon could prove crucial as the race
for the top five begins to heat up.
Blacktown, for their part, travel to Sutherland on the back of their second draw in three games, only the fourth time they’ve dropped points this season.
They remain nine points ahead of second-placed APIA Leichhardt after their 1-1 draw with Sydney Olympic in Round 14; Thomas Bienasz’s goal not enough to help the competition leaders to all three points at Lily Homes Stadium.
