Key 1 Be Prepared

Key 1 Class Rules

NO: cell phones, tablets or other devices

WHY? You are not listening 100% to the teacher. BUT: You can use your phone only when the teacher lets you. **This will make you loose points.

NO: Eating in Class

WHY? Smelly. Makes others hungry. You are not listening completely to the teacher. BUT: During break time you can eat your food. When the teacher says it is okay.

YES: Speak English! NO: Speaking your first language

WHY? You need to practice, practice, practice! I’m confused?! What do I do:

1. Ask the teacher first 2. Ask your classmate (IN ENGLISH) 3. Still a problem: ask your friends in first language (QUIETLY)

BUT: Translation, help with directions, confusion **This will make you loose points.

• EMAIL the TEACHER (on CANVAS) before you are absent

• You DID NOT email the teacher

LATENESS:

• DO NOT BE LATE TO CLASS • Not 10 minutes late • Not 9 minutes late • Not 8 minutes late • Not 7 minutes late • Not 6 minutes late • Not 5 minutes late • Not 4 minutes late • Not 3 minutes late • Not 2 minutes late • OKAY 1 minute late

Do: • Arrive on time • Have everything ready • Ask questions • Ask for help • Answer questions • Be active (not sleeping…) • Listen to the teacher and

your classmates • Share your feelings and

thoughts • Do the activities

Don’t: • Not listening • Interrupting other students • Using your cell phone • Be mean • Speak your first language • Be lazy • Forget your homework

class. • Having problems? Email your

teacher or classmates.

Late homework: • Check: Do you have an

EXCUSED absence? o YES: It is due the next

day you are in class. o YES: You can give your

homework up to 1 week later.

• Check: Do you NOT have an excused absence?

o You will loose points • NO LATE WORK AFTER 1
