2019 SAFETY EXPO KEYNOTE SPEAKER MICHAEL DONLON: I AM A SAFETY LEADER!

TO CREATE A SAFETY CULTURE everyone must be a safety leader. This means managers must be genuinely committed to the safety of their employees and employees must be empowered to work in a safe manner, stop unsafe acts, and fix unsafe conditions. For this to happen everyone needs to understand their role as a safety leader. Employees and managers must embrace safety as a core value and work together to continually improve their safety system. At the end of the day everyone should feel they contributed to the safety of those around them and be able to say, “I am a Safety Leader!”

Michael Donlon is the Chief Safety Officer for the Department of Water Resources (DWR) where he provides safety leadership for over 3,000 employees and 20 safety engineers.
