01Thecated Dwelling Unit Drawing inspiration from various exo-skeletal organisms and utilizing state-of-the-art shape memory polymers (SMPs), this unit creates an easy-to-assemble and de-ployable residence for a variety of terrains. The tilt-up exo-structure houses the conditioned spaces in which lighting is regulated by SMP automated awnings; allow-ing for optimal lighting throughout the day and unadul-tered vision at nightfall. Once the singular unit was es-tablished the second goal of the project was to arrange them into potential deployable community in Big Torch Key.
02A Chapel by the SeaThis intervention sought to use the Voronoi algorithm (through Rhino Grasshopper) as a generator for space, form and order to create a seaside chapel. The program although relatively simple, calls for several offices and space of worship--which becomes the centerpiece of the project. In this auspicious space, light is able to filter gently down through the focused voronoi finistration and bathe occupants in a sublime illumination.

04AthenaeumThe Charleston Athenaeum project fosters communal learning and networking by providing a place where den-izens can gather under a modernistic architecture. The spaces leak and spill into each other through multi-story atriums [in section] and connective hallways [in plan]; meanwhile panes of glass frame the the interior/exterior dialectic. This interplay of spaces portrays a new dynam-ic between city, building and occupant, an urban osmosis.

06The same concept and ideas found in the Thecated Dwelling (04) manifested in a vertical aggregation. The exo-structure acts as a vertebrae for two residential towers that literally float above ground, creating monumental spaces underneath.
