Kentville State School Newsletter 1/Term 1 Week 1 31 January 2020 Our School Expectations: Be A Learner; Be Responsible; Be Respectful; Be Safe Independent Public School as of 2017 Dear Parents & Caregivers, Book Levy This will continue to be $25 per student for the year i.e. we buy all of the stationery items that will be required for the year. This will save par- ents the hassle of trying to line up at Office Works or a books store, where I ve observed that things get a little bit crazy. Please ensure that your child has a set of head- phones for use in the classroom. Unfortunately, only a few parents provided these for their child last year. Our students use them extensively, throughout the week. Sun Safety With the extreme temperatures and UV index, please ensure that you child has a sun-safe hat and water bottle. We re very fortunate that we have air conditioned rooms. Welcome A big welcome to our new families and new prep students for 2020. I m sure they re going to enjoy their adventures at Kentville. Dates and times are to be confirmed. Senior Leaders Badge Presentation: To be ad- vised. End of Term Excursion: Science Expo at the Cobb & Co Museum in Toowoomba. To be confirmed. Chappy’s Corner Language Studies in 2020 Language Studies will be provided to us by the Cairns School of Distance Education CSDE. For students in Years 5 and 6 this is mandated (through to Year 9). For 2020, parents will be invoiced for the CSDE s student resource scheme fee (course materials) $10 and a software licence fee (Language Perfect) $25. NB: fees aren t limited to this amount. They will also be required to have a decent set of headphones with a microphone. NB: this is not usually forthcoming from parents and will need to be, as it is a prerequisite of the course. Please ensure when you re invoiced, that the payment is made promptly, using QParents, BPoint, EFTPOS or cash (at school). Noah celebrated turning 6 on 22nd January and Dean turned 11 on 27th January. P&C Update Hello Everyone, Welcome back to our current and new families. Annual General Meeting (AGM) You ll soon be advised on when our Annual General Meeting will be held. At this point in time, we re awaiting the return of our finance books. Breakfast Club started up again on Tuesday. Monday: Carly Tuesday: Chappy Wednesday: Cindy & Reg Thursday: vacant Friday: Amanda (please let me know if you could spare a day to help out.) Some of you will be glad to be back so you can have a rest from your busy holiday schedules. Whatever the case, my prayer for the school community is for success and happiness. I'd love to hear what you did on your vacation, come and see me for a chat - Chappy Words of wisdom To judge a person leaves less time to love them. If you have no failures, you're probably taking no risks. Some goals are so worthy, even failing brings glory. Finally... The afternoon knows what the morn- ing never suspected.
