Bon Voyage Attica
As many of you may already know,
Attica Scott, who has been the Director
of Kentucky Jobs with Justice, as of
February 29th, has moved on to fulfill
her role on the Louisville Metro Council,
representing District 1.
On February 27th, we had a Bon Voy-
age Attica celebration. Many folks came
out to celebrate with us as we wished
Attica good tidings. It was an emotional
day, as we took turns sharing our favorite
“Attica Memories” while taking photos
with the newly appointed Councilwom-
an!
Here at Kentucky Jobs with Justice,
we are extremely proud of Attica for her
appointment to Metro Council. We are
also grateful for the 7 1/2 years of work
as Director. Under Attica’s leadership,
Kentucky Jobs with Justice was able to
achieve many tremendous goals, prepar-
ing us for the fight work economic jus-
tice and workers’ rights in 2012 and be-
yond!

The primary elections are critically
important to the process of democracy. What is also critical is to ensure that
everyone
who is
eligible to
vote is
registered
to vote!
Between
now and
the election

ber you

community doing what we love to do:
talking with folks about what matters to
them! At the same time, we will be
getting folks REGISTERED to vote in
November!!! Keep an eye on our web-
site, and we will keep you updated on
where we will be with our Voter Regis-
tration Tables this summer!
Wage Theft
Wage theft is all too common in Ken-
tucky. Here at Kentucky Jobs with Jus-tice, we are committed to bringing about
the systemic changes that are needed to
prevent wage theft in Kentucky. There
will be many facets that we will have to
address as part of this campaign, such as:
expanding Kentucky's theft of labor stat-
ute, enacting Wage Theft Ordinances
across the State, streamlining the com-
plaint process, creating employer ac-
countability, reforming government ac-
tion, and protecting workers from retalia-
tion. This will take time, effort, commit-
ment, and resources; and together, WEcan make Wage Theft nonexistent in
Kentucky.
You can read our Wage Theft Report
on our website: www.kyjwj.org.

Faith, Labor, & Communi-
ty Breakfast
On June 23rd, Kentucky Jobs with
Justice will be hosting our first Faith,
Labor, & Community Breakfast. The
theme for this:
“Wage Theft: It
Steals our Rights
at Work”. We will
be bringing togeth-
er leaders and rep-
resentatives from
the three sectors of
our membership
base (faith, labor, & community) to talk
about how Wage Theft directly affects
our Rights at Work. We will also have a
few awards to give out. It wouldn’t be a
breakfast without great food!
The exact details and the registration
link will go out through our email alert
system. Make sure you are signed up

Director’s Corner
I am filled with gratitude to have the
opportunity to work for Kentucky Jobs
with Justice. Give me a second to tell
you why...
One of my core values is that people
should always come before profits. I am
more important than my paycheck; you
are more important than the donation that
you can make.
Kentucky Jobs with Justice is an or-
ganization that embodies this same value,
and they always put PEOPLE OVER
PROFITS. Here we fight to protect our
Rights at Work, to ensure that immigra-
tion legislation is fair, and to hold Corpo-
rate America accountable by putting peo-
ple over profits!I look forward to many years here at
KY JwJ, and I hope that you will join me
along the way in the fight for social and
economic justice.
In Solidarity,
Bonifacio Flaco Aleman,
Executive Director
Kentucky Jobs with Justice
