Special Features: Kenmore washer

Load Sensing – At the beginning of most cycles, the washer will briefly tumble the clothes to detect the weight of the load. This allows the control to adjust the wash and rinse cycles for optimum performance.

Wash Motions – The new Kenmore washers (except 40021) use special wash motions during parts of some cycles. These wash motions increase wash performance and fabric care in those cycles. Customers may notice some different sounds or actions in the tub.

Steam Cycles and Options – Model 4044* includes the steam feature. This includes a Steam Refresh cycle for removing odors and wrinkles. Steam can also be added to a number of regular cycles to enhance the cleaning performance.

Stain Cycle Option – This cycle automatically adds extra wash time and an extra rinse to the selected cycle for improved stain removal.

High Speed Spin – Spin speeds of up to 1200 RPM help remove more moisture so the dryer can dry the clothes faster using less energy than conventional top load washers.

Clean Washer Cycle – These models are equipped with a tub clean cycle designed to help keep the washer clean and fresh. This cycle is recommended for use at least once a month.

Control Lock – This safety feature allows the customer to lock out the controls to prevent unwanted operation of the machine. Once the controls are locked, they must be manually unlocked after the cycle ends or even after a power failure.

Special Features: Kenmore dryer

Check Vent – The control monitors the condition of the house exhaust system for restrictions. If the exhaust duct becomes severely restricted, the Check Vent light is illuminated to alert the customer that the vent should be cleaned immediately. Clean exhaust ducts contribute to shorter dry times and reduced energy consumption.

Check Filter – The Check Filter light will blink at the beginning of each cycle to remind the customer to clean the lint filter.

Control Lock – This safety feature allows the customer to lock out the controls to prevent unwanted operation of the machine. Once the controls are locked, they must be manually unlocked after the cycle ends or even after a power failure.

Steam Features – Models 8/9044 feature a steam option. The STEAM REFRESH cycle removes odors and wrinkles from up to 5 garments. In addition, steam can be added to many cycles to reduce static electricity that can build up in dry fabrics.

INSTALLATION –

Be sure the Foam Tub Support is removed along with all packing materials

Remove Shipping Bolts once Washing Machine is at the final installation location. Do NOT transport unit without shipping bolts in place.

ADJUSTMENTS AND CONNECTIONS

Optional - for slick floors

Verify hot & cold faucetsNo auto switcher in these models

Check to make sure Drain Hose Cap and Filter Cap are tight.

ELECTRIC DRYER POWER SUPPLY

Always use an approved strain relief on the power cord.

For 4-wire installations

Remove the white wire from the green ground screw. Attach this white wire from the green ground screw to the neutral (center) terminal of the terminal block with the white wire from the power cord. Attach the green ground wire from the power cord to the green ground screw as shown. Attach the black and red wires from the power cord to the left and right terminals of the terminal block.

A spare terminal block screw is mounted on the back cover to the left of the terminal block.

For 3-wire installations, attach the center wire from the power cord to the neutral (center) terminal of the terminal block. Attach the two hot wires to the left and right terminals of the terminal block.

EXHAUST VENTING

Always check the house vent system for restrictions. A poorly vented dryer will cause long dry times and higher energy consumption. If the exhaust system is restricted, recommend to the customer that they have it serviced.

Proper vent and elbow installation

REVERSING THE DRYER DOOR SWING

Only the dryer door can be reversed. The washer cannot be reversed due to the latch assembly and other technical reasons.

•To avoid damage to the dryer or the door, support the door with a stool or box that fits under the door, or have an assistant support the weight of the door.•Always reverse the door BEFORE stacking the dryer on top of the washer•Avoid dropping the door to avoid damage to the door or the floor.

1. Open the dryer door.

2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the 2 latch screws and the latch.

3. Remove the 2 blank screws, one each above and below the latch.

4. While supporting the weight of the door, remove the 2 hinge screws.

CAUTION: Be sure to support the weight of the door before removing the hinge screws.

1. Carefully turn the door upside down and reinstall it on the opposite side using the screws removed in step 4.

1. Install the door latch in the opening on the side from which the door was removed using the screws from step 2.

2. Install the blank screws from step 3 in the holes above and below the latch where the door was originally mounted.

3. Test the door for proper operation and make sure it latches properly.
