Is fourth time lucky? He finished second to Dunaden in 2011, eighth to Green Moon in 2012 and second to Fiorente in 2013. His jockey Gerald Mosse won the Cup on Americain in 2010 DRAWN BY 7 SEISMOS Trainer: Marco Botti Jockey: Craig Newitt Has won seven races, the longest over 2700m at Newbury in August. Blotted his copybook in the Caulfield Cup at his first run on Aussie soil when only 15th of the 18 runners and looked very dour. There are better ways of spending your money than backing this bloke. DRAWN BY Trainer: Robert Hickmott Jockey: Tommy Berry Will carry a lot of sentimental money as he is carrying Sydney’s young pin-up jockey Tommy Berry. Was well in the market last year as an $11 chance but finished only 13th of 24 and it is debatable if he is going as well now. Showed a little early dash in the Caulfield Cup but finished last of the 18 runners. SEA MOON 6 DRAWN BY 8 JUNOOB Trainer: Chris Waller Jockey: Hugh Bowman A member of the all conquering Chris Waller squad who already has a Group One win this Spring in The Metropolitan, 2400m, at Randwick a month ago. A stayer with a touch of brilliance and things did not go his way when seventh in the Caulfield Cup. Striving to give leading Sydney rider Hugh Bowman his first Cup win. DRAWN BY 10 GATEWOOD Trainer: John Gosden Jockey: William Buick Has been here before and won the Geelong Cup in 2012. Seemed to have lost form but has found a new lease of life for the astute John Gosden in recent runs including a win and a second at his latest two starts at Deauville in France. Won black type staying races at Ascot and Goodwood in May. Far from the worst. DRAWN BY Trainer: Johnny Murtagh Jockey: Steven Arnold Another nine-year-old and trained by the Irishman Johnny Murtagh, who had experience as a jockey riding in Australia. Will be ridden by So You Think’s jockey Steven Arnold and said to be a strong stayer, although his recent form in Ireland and England does not read so well. Will have the bookies cheering him on. ROYAL DIAMOND 9 DRAWN BY 5 PROTECTIONIST Trainer: Andreas Wohler Jockey: Ryan Moore German stayer whose champion jockey Ryan Moore won the Cox Plate 10 days ago on Adelaide. Had a record of four wins and four placings in eight European starts before finishing an eye-catching fourth in the 2400m Herbert Power Handicap at Caulfield on October 11. A big tip in Melbourne in the past week. DRAWN BY 3 FAWKNER Trainer: Robert Hickmott Jockey: Nicholas Hall One of the big team raced by Lloyd Williams, a master at setting horses for this race. Finished a creditable sixth last year after winning the Caulfield Cup and is more seasoned this year. Hard to fault his recent form, two runs in October resulting in a win in the G1 Caulfield Stakes and a second to Adelaide in the Cox Plate. DRAWN BY WHO SHOT THEBARMAN 12 Trainer: Chris Waller Jockey: Glen Boss Another of the Chris Waller team and has 3200m form having won the Auckland Cup before coming to Australia. Won two in a row over 2000m and 2500m at Flemington before tactics of riding him forward brought about his undoing in the Caulfield Cup. Has Makybe Diva’s jockey Glen Boss on top. DRAWN BY Trainer: Tomoyuki Umeda Jockey: Zac Purton Japanese star who was devastating in winning the Caulfield Cup and, as a winner up to 3400m, is just as well suited at Flemington. Will be ridden by Hong Kong’s champion jockey, the Aussie Zac Purton, and don’t forget when the Japanese last contested the Cup in 2006 they ran one-two. ADMIRE RAKTI 1 DRAWN BY 2 CAVALRYMAN Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor Jockey: Craig Williams Class stayer and member of the Arab-backed Godolphin team. Has won two of his three most recent starts in England, the 2400m G2 Prince of Wales Stakes at Newmarket and the 3200m G2 Goodwood Cup, but trainer Saeed Bin Suroor ran him in the Cup two years ago and he finished a disappointing 12th. DRAWN BY Trainer: Johnny Murtagh Jockey: Damien Oliver Has won two from three since joining the Johnny Murtagh stable. Won England’s class staying test, the 2800m Ebor Handicap in August and over 3200m in Ireland in June. Damien Oliver is going for a record equalling fourth Cup w in after Doriemus in 1995, Media Puzzle in 2002 and Fiorente in 2013. MUTUAL REGARD 11 DRAWN BY Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor Jockey: James McDonald Will carry the royal blue of Godolphin and will be ridden by the Kiwi whiz kid James McDonald, Sydney’s leading jockey. Has some classy efforts on his form sheet, but the worrying part is it is a couple of seasons old. Smart European racing men believe he is on his way back after two handy 2014 runs. WILLING FOE 13 DRAWN BY Trainer: Roger Varian Jockey: Andre Atzeni Much travelled mare who has won five of her 16 starts up to 2400m and will be ridden by young Italian jockey Andrea Atzeni, soon to take over as Godolphin’s top rider. Missed the Caulfield Cup through injury and last raced in June when fourth in the 2000m G1 Pretty Polly Stakes in Ireland. MY AMBIVALENT 14 DRAWN BY Trainer: Bart & James Cummings Jockey: Michael Rodd Is an $81 chance and would be five times that price if 12 times winning trainer Bart Cummings was not listed as his co-trainer. Has not been good enough in three previous Cup attempts and won’t be good enough in 2014. Finished fifth of nine in Moonee Valley Cup 10 days ago. 15 PRECEDENCE DRAWN BY Trainer: Peter G Moody Jockey: Luke Nolen Represents the Black Caviar combination of Peter Moody and Luke Nolen. Starting to recapture his three-year-old form of three years ago and, although down the track in the Mackinnon Stakes on Saturday, there was a lot to like about his tip-top fourth in the usually reliable guide, the Caulfield Cup. 16 BRAMBLES DRAWN BY Trainer: Ciaron Maher Jockey: Chad Schofield Is a $201 chance and so he should be. Could have got his name from his trainer Ciaron Maher but that does not help him gallop. Has won 10 races but has had 12 starts since he was last first home. Has only won up to 2350m and form is best on wet ground. Hard to back, even for a place. MR O'CEIRIN 17 DRAWN BY Trainer: Andre Fabre Jockey: Glyn Schofield Jockey Glyn Schofield has gained a late release from eight rides at Randwick to take the mount. Form in France before arriving was honest without being eye- catching and, at his local debut 10 days ago, he led but was comfortably overtaken when third in the 2500m Moonee Valley Cup. AU REVOIR 18 DRAWN BY Trainer: Peter G Moody Jockey: Ben Melham Another trained by Peter Moody. Former French galloper who looked to be hitting form at the right time when close second to Lucia Valentina in the 2000m Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on October 4 but then had his chance a fortnight later when sixth in the Caulfield Cup. A distance query, but value hope. 19 LIDARI DRAWN BY Trainer: Chris Waller Jockey: Tye Angland Former European now with Chris Waller. Did the job well when a strong closing second to Junoob in G1 The Metropolitan (2400m) and then not suited by the dawdling pace up front when sixth of nine in the 2500m Moonee Valley Cup. To be ridden by one of the up

and comers in Tye Angland and could surprise. 20 OPINION DRAWN BY Trainer: Michael Moroney Jockey: Dwayne Dunn His trainer Mike Moroney won the big race with Brew in 2000. Has to overcome the horror 24 draw, but he has been showing some strong staying form in his lead-ups. Hit the line hard when third in The Metropolitan (2400m) and came from near last to run fifth in the 2400m Caulfield Cup. 21 ARALDO DRAWN BY Trainer: Kris Lees Jockey: Kerrin McEvoy Has been popular with punters since her barnstorming third in the Caulfield Cup and before that she was even more impressive in winning the high quality 2000m Turnbull Stakes at Flemington. On trial at 3200m but is trained by the highly skilled Kris Lees and will be ridden by Brew’s 2000 winning jockey Kerrin McEvoy. LUCIA VALENTINA 22 DRAWN BY Trainer: David Hayes & Tom Dabernig Jockey: Dean Yendall Has won twice over the Flemington 3200m but her recent form is average to say the least and was beaten a long way in the Caulfield Cup. She has drawn nicely but will start the rank outsider of the field and with some justification. Hard to back her. UNCHAIN MY HEART 23 Trainer: Darren Weir Jockey: Joe Moreira Signed on for the Cup with a win in The Lexus (2500m) on Saturday when blinkers were added to his gear and he was particularly impressive over the final 200m. Will be ridden by the “Magic Man” Joao Moreira and is trained by Melbourne’s premiership winning trainer Darren Weir. One of the big hopes. DRAWN BY 24 SIGNOFF
