KuanishSultanov, attended the International Conference on
Human Rights in the Netherlands
On July 8-10, 2013 the Kingdom of the Netherlands hosted the International Conference on Human Rights,
organized by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations
Population Fund (UNFPA). At this important event for the international community, Kazakhstan was
represented by KuanishSultanov, Senator and Chairman of the Commission on Human Rights under the
President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The conference convened more than 300 participants from 130 countries: Among them are the
representatives of local authorities, international organizations, and members of civil society, UN agencies,
as well as specially invited experts and advocates in the field of human rights. During the visit,
KuanishSultanov held bilateral meetings with the UNFPA executive director, BabatundeOsotimehin, who
is on the position of UN Deputy Secretary and deputy Chairman of Netherlands Senate Hans Franken.
During the meeting with BabatundeOsotimehin, the UNFPA executive director highlighted Kazakhstan's
contribution to international and regional security and stability, as well as readiness to fully support the UN
and international community’s agenda. He also praised Kazakhstan’s national and international initiatives
directed for solving of global problems of humanity.
At the meeting with Hans Franken, the sides discussed the possibility for further development of inter-
parliamentary cooperation and exchange of views on important issues of bilateral and multilateral agendas.
