Kawa Seals the 250 Market
While other main players are focusing on the kapchai market, Kawasaki Motors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (KMSB) wants to
continue heading the above 250cc market.The new VN II seals that segment for KMSB.Currently, KMSB's Ninja 250
is already controlling the market (although its best selling model is the ER6-N) with total combined sales figure of
around 3,500 units last year.This year, KMSB is targeting a five per cent increase, which we think is a modest amount
as the VN II we test rode last weekend should garner a lot of interest and surely, a lot of sales.
VN,
refers to Kawasaki's cruiser line, the Vulcan, while the Roman number II means the engine is a V-twin unit.That V-
twin is a totally new engine, the smallest in the Kawasaki family, and is used solely for this model.The VN II was a
Japan only model, but Kawasaki has stopped sales there and handed it over to KMSB, which makes Malaysia the
only producer of this model in the world.KMSB replaced the normal launch gambit and instead did a media ride to
Malacca for a night's stay at Equatorial Hotel.
Eight media members including us joined the ride and the route was a mix of the highway and the old road.On the
Kesas highway from the KMSB office in Glenmarie to Sepang, the bike cruised along with a strong pull.We thought
the six-speed tranny has too many ratios for a cruiser. We found that even the sixth gear was a working gear.The
engine definitely felt torquey for a 250 and half clutching it made the bike perform better than the Ninja 250.
The suspension was fair and scrapping your peg
feelers could be done easily, but we think the VN II is taller than the bigger Vulcan 900.After Sepang, we veered off
onto the B-roads, passing Linggi, Port Dickson, Masjid Tanah, Klebang and finally Bandar Hilir.We did a lot of pit
stops - a coconut drink in PD, durian session in Linggi, Leman Dawi cendol in Pedas, dinner in the Portuguese
Settlement and lunch in Seremban.
That kind of travelling was perfect for the little Kawa cruiser.KMSB is selling the VN II at RM25,989 (sales price), but
add RM1,000 and you get the accessories package easily worth more than the asking price.

Kawasaki VNII - Vulcan 250V
Tunggangan santai dan juga kembara jarak jauh kian mendapat tempat di hati peminat
motosikal di negara ini. Samada untuk kegunaan hujung minggu atau sebagai
pengangkutan harian ke tempat kerja, genre motosikal kruiser boleh memenuhi kehendak
sebegini. Salah satu siri motosikal kruiser yang tidak asing lagi dalam dunia permotoran
motosikal ialah siri Vulcan yang dikeluarkan Kawasaki. Mula diperkenalkan sejak tahun
1984 lagi, Vulcan terkenal dengan motosikal berenjin dwi-selinder konfigurasi V,
bersesaran 125cc sehinggalah ke model sebesar 2000cc.
Meneruskan legasi Vulcan terkini ialah Vulcan 250 dengan gaya dan penampilan tersendiri.
Model ini ditawarkan Kawasaki Motors Malaysia Sdn Bhd sebagai model pemasangan
tempatan (CKD) dan dikuasai enjin dwi-selinder V bersesaran 249cc.
VNII di perkarangan New World Hotel, Genting Highlands
Enjin sejukan cecair ini mempunyai bilah penyejuk menyerupai enjin sejukan udara, dan
mampu menjana 31 kuasa kuda (hp) dengan tork sebanyak 22.2 N-m pada 9,500 pusingan
enjin se minit. Enjin kompak ini menggunapakai profil aci sesondol yang direka khusus
untuk memaksimakan kesan tenaga inertia rodaputar untuk meningkatkan kuasa enjin
pada rpm rendah. Nisbah mampatan yang tinggi iaitu sebanyak 12.0:1 juga meningkatkan
lagi kuasa enjin pada julat operasi enjin yang rendah. Jaket cecair penyejuk yang
mengelilingi enjin ini juga bertindak sebagai peredam bunyi untuk menghasilkan operasi
enjin yang lebih senyap, dan sistem penyejukan cecair membolehkan penetapan suhu enjin
yang lebih sekata, sekali gus mengelakkan kehilangan kuasa yang dialami enjin sejukan
udara apabila suhu enjin melebihi suhu operasi optimum.
Ini juga menghasilkan enjin yang lebih lasak dan tahan lama. Bilah penyejuk pada blok
enjin dan kekotak gear nya dihiasi krom kilat bermutu tinggi yang menyumbang kepada
karektor kruiser motosikal ini.
Hantaran kuasa diagihkan melalui pilihan enam gear untuk disesuaikan dengan kehendak
kuasa pada satu satu masa. Dihubungkan kepada enjin melalui sistem klac basah dengan
plet berbilang, penukaran gear didapati lancar dan tepat, dan mudah di neutralkan apabila
sampai ke persimpangan berlampu isyarat. Ini mampu dicapai dengan mudah melalui
bantuan sistem Carian Neutral Positive (Positive Neutral Finder). Penukaran gear juga
didapati lancar sewaktu tunggang-uji di laluan Ulu Yam - Awana - Genting Highlands,
dengan nisbah gear yang agak tepat bagi kelancaran hantaran kuasa yang diperlukan
sewaktu pendakian curam. Laluan sebegini amat sesuai bagi ujian nisbah gear, kerana
nisbah perbezaan gear yang terlalu jauh antara satu sama lain akan menyebabkan
ngauman enjin yang terlampau apabila rpm enjin meningkat terlalu tinggi bagi memenuhi
permintaan kuasa yang tidak dapat disambut baik oleh gear berikutnya. Julat gear VN II ini
didapati agak tepat untuk hantaran kuasa yang sekata dan lancar, dengan tork yang
mencukupi untuk memacu jentera 171kg ini bagi menghasilkan tunggangan yang
mengujakan sewaktu mendaki pusat peranginan tanah tinggi tersebut.
Kerangka VN II ini adalah dari jenis tiub berbentuk dwi-dukungan, dengan lengan ayun
belakang yang di dokong suspensi konvensional seperti kebanyakan motosikal kruiser.
Bahagian hadapan jentera ini di ampu suspensi cabang teleskopik 41mm, dan dipasang
roda aloi aluminium yang menarik. Konfigurasi kerangka dan suspensi ini menghasilkan
sebuah jentera yang stabil dan mudah dikawal, dengan meklumbalas roda yang baik.
Kawalan kelajuan diyakinkan oleh brek cakera dwi-angkup Tokico di hadapan. Cakera
bertebuk ini dibuat sedemikian bagi penyesaran haba yang lebih baik dan juga
menyumbang kepada pengurangan berat keseluruhan jentera. Roda belakang dibekalkan
brek jenis gelendung untuk melengkapkan sistem pemberhentian jentera ini, yang di dapati
menyakinkan tanpa mengalami kepanasan sewaktu menuruni laluan Genting dan juga
Bukit Tinggi, sebelum menempuh selekoh curam selepas Genting Sempah sebelum pulang
ke ibukota. Tayar hadapan yang bersaiz 120/80-17 dengan gabungan tayar belakang
160/80-15 didapati selesa untuk menangani laluan berliku, malah mampu mengujakan
mereka yang gemar menyeret pemijak kaki.
Beberapa aksesori juga turut ditawarkan bagi mereka yang ingin menambah sentuhan
peribadi kepada jentera ini. Penampan angin hadapan yang dipasang kepada jentera
pandu-uji ini menambahkan lagi penampilan kruiser nya dan membantu menyesarkan
angin ke belakang sewaktu penunggangan laju dan juga pabila hujan. Keselesaan
pembonceng juga mampu ditingkatkan dengan penambahan penyandar belakang yang
digabungkan dengan tapak pengikat barangan. Bar pelindung enjin juga boleh ditambah
bagi menyerlahkan lagi keterampilan VN II anda.
Pelana dwi-aras nya adalah setinggi 690mm, dengan posisi duduk yang agak menegak dan
membolehkan penunggangan seharian tanpa perlu banyak hentian rehat. Maklumat
kelajuan penunggangan boleh di dapati dari meter analog yang terletak di atas tangki
bahanapi. Lampu isyarat dan juga lampu amaran ditempatkan di antara meter kelajuan dan
penutup tangki bahanapi berkunci. Tangki bahanapi ini dikawal tompol pilihan aliran
bahanapi yang terletak di sebelah kiri, dengan suis utama juga berada di sisi yang sama.
Hendal melintang nya cukup lebar untuk kawalan jentera yang mudah, dengan letakduduk
suis kawalan yang mudah dicapai. Lampu utama nya menggunakan mentol kuartz halogen
dengan kuasa suluhan 60W yang selesa untuk penunggangan malam hari yang selamat.
Ekzos berbentuk menirus berhias krom kilat melengkapkan lagi penampilan jentera santai
ini, dengan pemasangan sendeng ke atas.
Secara keseluruhan, VN II ini mampu memenuhi kehendak penunggangan yang selesa dan
menyeronokkan, bagi kegunaan harian ataupun untuk bersantai malam minggu, mahupun
bagi konvoi jarak jauh. Ia mampu memberikan satu gaya hidup yang tersendiri bagi
pemiliknya, disamping menjanjikan sebuah jentera yang selesa dan tahan lasak.
Penggunaan bahanapi di anggar menimatkan dengan satu tangki penuh mampu membawa
penunggangnya melebihi 200km. Bagi mereka yang inginkan penampilan tersendiri dengan
sebuah jentera 250cc, ini merupakan satu lagi keluaran yang perlu dipertimbangkan.
Namun bagi peminat jentera kruiser, tentuya ia merupakan sebuah jentera yang
diidamkam, apalagi bila ianya merupakan sebuah jentera permulaan yang amat mudah
dikendalikan bagi mereka yang kurang berpengalaman dan baru dengan dunia motosikal.

VN250 - A Smooth operator
The Vulcan name has been used by Kawasaki to denote their "custom" or "cruiser" type
motorcycles since 1984, using mostly V-twin powered motorcycles ranging from 125cc to
2000cc.
The latest offering Kawasaki is the VN II ; a cruiser bike with attitude and style. The VN II
has a 249cc V-twin, liquid cooled engine. The compact V-twin design has special cam
profiles which is combined with the flywheel effect to boost low end torque. The 12.0:1 high
compression engine generate up to 30.8 horsepower, and delivers 22.2 N-m of torque at
9,500 rpm, enabling smooth low and mid range power delivery. Finning on the cylinders
helps provide an air-cooled image, but the water jacket of the liquid cooling system results
in even running temperatures, eliminating “power fade” on hot days, longer engine life,
and also insulate engine noise for quieter running. It has a 6 speed gearbox with a well-
dispersed ratios to provide ample power for changing riding needs. A gear for every
situation gives better acceleration, and allows engine’s full potential to be utilised. The
traditional "test-track" of Ulu Yam, Awana, Genting Higlands and Bukit Tinggi was
negotiated with comfort and exciting speed. Gear change is smooth throughout, and its
Positive Neutral Finder helps invaluably for shifting into neutral at light stops.
This locally assembled bike is a low rider, with a fairly long wheelbase. It appears to be a
great learner's bike, as it is easy to handle, very forgiving, nimble and a joy to ride. With a
249cc displacement, is of no wonder to be concerned with the engine size on the highway,
but the smooth 6-speed gearbox really helps with highway cruising and has no problem
accelerating above 100-110 km/h, even with a pillion. The wind tends to move it around a
bit due to its cruiser appearance, and it is something which is not unexpected.
Speeds are being kept checked adequately from its front dual-piston caliper which offer
good braking and brake feeling, producing quick, sure stops. The disc is drilled to provide
excellent heat transfer for better cooling and reduced unsprung weight. The brake lever is
adjustable in four stages, to operate the dual-caliper Tokico brakes. The rear end gets a
160mm drum type brake.
The narrow 120/80-17 front tyre with a big beefy 160/80-15 rear tyre complement the VN2
II traditional cruiser styling. Large 41 mm diameter front fork tubes are for precise
handling, and provides good road feedback for feel and control. The cast alloy spoke
wheels augurs well with the bike's looks, and is signatured with the polished chrome,
taper-type exhaust. The seat is comfortable, with a stepped cut for comfort and character.
A relaxed laid-back riding posture allows all-day riding for long journeys. Optional backrest
for your pillion is available as an accessory, so is the front windsheild to keeps the bugs at
bay.
Typical cruiser forward control handlebars complement its overall character, as well as for
ease of handling. The meter is centrally located on the fuel tank, providing information at a
glance, and the fuel tank cap is flush-mounted, blending in to the meter cluster. Switches
on the handlebars are logically located to be within easy reach for better control and
safety,
Riding it around town definitely gets plenty of headturns especially from curious onlookers.
If you like the cruiser style, and are after a tough, reliable motorcycle that looks great and
performs well, then this is a definite contender. Overall, this is a great bike. This is a 250cc
motorcycle that looks more like a 600. This may work great if you need to work within a
250cc engine size restriction, be it due to your official JPJ licensing, or your "ministry of
home-affairs".

Motor ni tak ada meter penunjuk minyak petrol. Saya tak selesa la nak bawa
moto ni kalau jalan jauh pasal tak tau minyak cukup lg ke tak. Dan lg susah nak
budget moto ni camana pgunaan minyak dia.

Harga yg ditawarkan tu trlalu mahal sebenarnya, untuk sebuah motosikal yang
mempunyai body SAMA seperti Modenas Jaguh atau Kawasaki ELiminator 125.
Sila park side by side dgn Jaguh dan ukur kalau tak percaya. Jika dijual dlm
lingkungan 15k lebih sesuai, lagipun ini CKD, sedangkan Ninja250 pun boleh
dijual lebih murah iaitu sekitar 20k. Harap Kawasaki dapat revise harga kerana
harga ini hanya dapat attract riders baru, rider lama lebih rasa berbaloi beli
cruiser big cc 2nd hand tahun lewat 90an atau awal 2000an yg lebih murah.

motor yang ada. Biar cc rendah, tapi maintainance tak memeningkan kepala.

Hello bros...Vn2 ni memang superb...I dah pi konvoi a few times ikut
cruiser/superbike lagi besar 900 cc ke atas,takde hal nak follow setakat 130-
140Kmh for 2-3 hours.
Saya nak upgrade VN2 saya..kalu ada sesiapa interested to buy motor saya (May
2010) model,pls email me [email protected].
