ABOUT US
Kalpavriksha holds the esteem of being a national level, social business challenge. It has
been the flagship event of Ahvan since 2006. Kalpavriksha is a platform for generating
sustainable business ideas that contribute to the welfare of the society at large. The belief
that drives Kalpavriksha is that the amalgamation of business principles with societal
upliftment, can be a sustainable and powerful tool for change.
By encouraging such ideas and helping budding entrepreneurs seek expert advice and seed
funding, Kalpavriksha promotes IIM Indores belief that the essence of management lies in
managing ones own ambitions. It provides a platform for students, social enterprises and
student social enterprises to share and implement their ideas and get mentors to help them
to make an impact to the society.
Since its national launch in 2006, Kalpavriksha has seen immense participation from
students (average ~100 teams) and support from big corporate houses like Infosys, Tata
Group, Deloitte and Cognizant. Kalpavriksha has given the platform for finalists to take
part in the GSEC (Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition) and one team won the
finals in 2009 held at Foster Business School, Seattle.
Last year, Kalpavriksha tied-up with TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Mumbai Chapter as a
knowledge partner and organised a webinar for the finalists on social entrepreneurship.
