Kaasthamandap Vidhyalaya MISSION & PHILOSOPHY Children are deeply affected by their surroundings and especially the attitude of people around them. Kaasthamandap Vidhayalaya seeks to provide students a congenial and positive, yet challenging environment that will support their all-round developmental needs and inner awareness. is we hope will lay the foundations that will eventually bring out in our graduates their best capabilities which will make them productive members of our society, contributing to the advancement of the human race. CURRICULUM e primary curriculum is based on the prepared classroom and immediate school environment and goes beyond to the culturally rich and diverse surroundings of Kathmandu Valley. Students learn and grow through play, inquiry and discovery, active exploration and experimentation, creative construction and expression, as well as through interactive engagement in the world around them, facilitated by the guidance of experienced teachers. With this holistic approach, we want students to become life-long learners, committed, responsible and capable of solving their own problems besides embracing values of mutual respect, cooperation and social justice. MONTESSORI MATERIALS AND METHODS, which are very supportive to the need of young children are incorporated throughout the primary years, where relevant. BLOCKS, an integral part of the curriculum serve to integrate all the disciplines required by the younger children . PHYSICAL EDUCATION, is enhanced by Yoga, Movement and Dance classes, to balance physical strength with inner discipline and creative expression. Our playground is carefully planned and well equipped with sports facilities to ensure the needs of the students as well as their safety. MUSIC AND SINGING is a regular feature in the classroom. And students get to display their talent, throughout the year. PARENTS are active partners with the school who contribution to the student’s growth. We encourage parents to share their talents and interests with the children. Close communication is maintained between the school and home through the Contact Book as well as through other meetings when necessary. Parent- Teacher-Conference(PTC) scheduled every term ensures close follow up of students progress and mutual consultation. TRIPS to neighboring and sometimes far away places are a regular feature for the students, as an extension to what they study in class or as part of special projects. Parent volunteers are welcome to accompany students on such occasion to facilitate supervision and enjoyment. THE ART AND CRAFT ROOM is equipped with a variety of material from paints and crayons to clay and found material that encourage children to explore, express and create their inner and outer world. Woodwork and Needlework compliment this area. THE SCHOOL LIBRARY is stocked with well selected children’s literature in English and Nepali as well as other reading and reference material for students and teachers. e Internet access on the computer supplement this need. An audio-visual facility is also available. BASIC COMPUTER SKILLS are taught and made use of practically. Our computer laboratory is equipped to serve all levels. ASSEMBLIES give students a platform to share what they learn with the whole school. Parents are invited occasionally to special events but are welcome at other times too. Children are deeply aff ected by their surroundings and especially the attitude of people around them. Kaasthamandap Vidhayalaya seeks to provide students a congenial and positive, yet challenging environment that will support their all-round developmental needs and inner awareness. ADMISSION POLICY

Admission is based on information provided on the application form and interviews with the child and the parents. Children will be assessed through observation and classroom activities for Grade One. Th e School has also added A Levels program aft er grade 10. Admission for A Levels will be based on entrance exam results .

CLASS SIZE

Class size is small, maintaining low student-teacher ratio which ensures close supervision of each student.

DRESS CODE

Students wear navy blue skirt/trousers with a white blouse/ shirt and black shoes and navy blue socks. A dress code makes children feel good about themselves and their school. Friday is a “dress-as-you -may” day which gives students the freedom to express their personal preferences.

Th ere is a provision for scholarship for students based on their needs.
