The FCNL building, originally constructed during the Civil War, had serious structural problems, outdated systems and significant maintenance concerns. The new, reconstructed building provides the Quaker organization with increased space and a safer working environment.

“Green” features include photovoltaic panels, radiant floors, a green roof, and 13 geothermal wells drilled 300 feet deep to provide a supply of water at a constant temperature for more efficient heating and cooling.

FCNL achieved Silver LEED certification from USGBC.

The new Legg Mason Tower on the Inner Harbor is the new home of the Baltimore office of Hogan & Hartson. The building is pre-certified LEED Silver, and the law firm interior was designed to LEED Silver certification.

The space features high-end law firm finishes, with floor to ceiling glass in all exterior offices, and clerestory glass on interior walls to let in natural light. The office features light/motion sensors in all offices and an open floor plan to reduce energy. Wind credits were purchased from BG&E to offset power consumption.

An in-house recycling system is in place both for move in and for the future. Over 75% of construction materials were recycled.
