Connection to RMIT’s urban campus with Edmond and Corrigan’s Building 8, ARM’s Storey Hall and Green Brain and Sean Godsell’s Design Hub.

Architectural complexity without contradictions:Plan is complexed, but not confusing. The form is difficult, but not disruptive. The spaces are myriad, yet accommodatingly seamless. the finishes are profilic, but their thoughtfulness renders them appropriate.

Individuated effort and its myraid spatials, formal and surface identities might provide a sense of autonomy for students as part of the larger institution of RMIT.

SAB does share some thoughtful retail architecture as education is an affirmation and confirmation of society to itself.

Each learning space offers up architectural diversity in terms of colour and configuration.

The geometry of the folded metal skin opens the building to the outside while avoiding typical vertical and horizontal strip windows.

Each lecture theatre has its own strong spatial identity.

The post-postmodern facade has at times made the interior insensible.

The building’s surface appears to be a clean and plain container feel compact and neat, orderly and undemonstrative.

The interior feels larger than the external box. the use of both linear and vertical guestures help expand the space.

The spaces for design research are deliberately open and available for adaptation.

The Design Hub functions both as a building and as a declaration.

The Hub also marks the axis between it and the Shrine of Remembrance at the other end of the Melbourne CBD.
