PREPARATION:There is no preparation necessary, the resin pieces come ready to paint. Any slight imperfections can be lightly sanded, wipe with a damp cloth. Although the umbrella sticks are glued into the pieces, if you very gently rock them back and forth, they will come out (thus making these pieces much easer to paint). The metal is also primed, so the umbrellas are also ready to paint.

Basecoat as follows:Oyster Beige—ducks heads, wings and bodies

Khaki Tan—make a wash and wash over the duck parts

Marigold—beaks

Lamp Black—umbrella handles, boots

Summer Squash—her slicker, his umbrella, his necktie, his buttons

Aloe—his slicker, her umbrella, her purse, her bow, her buttons

Lilac Meadow—egg

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS:Drybrush highlight the duck’s faces, wings, and body with Warm White. Blush the cheeks with Watermelon Slice. The eyes are Lamp Black with a tiny Warm White highlight on the upper front. Shade the beaks next to the face and with the chisel edge of your brush, lay some color inside the mouth with Burnt Sienna. Highlight the end of the beaks with Summer Squash.

Highlight the center of the umbrella handles and toes, heels and soles of the boots with a dry brush of Warm White.

Shade her slicker on the underside of the hood next to her face, on the sleeves next to the cuff s, around the sleeves and on the sleeves, around the umbrella handle, the center front, around the buttons, around the pockets and on the bottom of the pockets and in the creases with Honey Brown. Highlight the open areas on the slicker, center of the pockets and around the edge of the hood with Warm White.

the handle, bottom of the fl ap and bottom of the purse with Warm White. The fl ower is Summer Squash and the center of the fl ower is Lamp Black.

Shade the tie against the knot on the loops and ties, bottom of the knot and bottom of the buttons with Thicket. Highlight the top of the top of the knot, ends of the loops & ties on the tie, and top of the buttons with Warm White.

Shade his slicker on the underside of the hoot next to his face, on the sleeves next to the cuff s, around the sleeves and on the sleeves, around the umbrella handle, the center front around the buttons, around the pockets and on the bottom of the pockets and in the creases with Thicket. Shade the necktie on both sides of the knot and bottom of the knot, and the bottom of the buttons with Honey Brown. Highlight the top of the knot, ends of the tie, and top of the buttons with Warm White.

Shade around the egg and above and below the center section of the egg with Purple Rain. Highlight the top, bottom and center of the band with Warm White. The fl owers on the band are dots of Warm White, the center of the fl owers are Summer Squash, and the dots between are Thicket the groups of 3 dots on the top & bottom of the egg are Summer Squash.

Highlight the ribs and bottom edges of the umbrellas with Warm White. Shade of each side of the ribs of the yellow umbrella with Honey Brown. Shade each side of the ribs on the green umbrella with Thicket. The dots on the yellow umbrella are Thicket, and the dots on the green umbrella are Summer Squash.

FINISHING:Finish with several light coats of Americana Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher—Matte. When dry, apply Deco-Art Media Liquid Glass to the eyes. Set the umbrella handles back into the pieces—they can be glued back in, but for ease of storage, I didn’t.
