In this issue...

Hello Key Clubbers!

The school year may be ending, but the Key Club service year has just begun. Now’s a great time to make that one final push: to have that one last service/fundraising project to close out the school year. Check out page 6 of this newsletter for some ideas.

By now, membership in your club meetings is probably dwindling. This is natural, as people start to slightly lose interest in the club towards the end of year. If you are having a meeting, publicize it ahead of time, using fliers, announcements, etc.

Now is also a good time to brainstorm for new project ideas, since all of the officers and the club advisor can still meet up. Over the summer, it will be harder to get in contact with everyone, so take this month to think of possible service and fundraising projects and get a head start on planning them, so you will have to do less once September rolls around.

Lastly, if your club advisor or previous club president has not filled out the end-of-year survey yet, please fill it out as soon as possible. This year, the survey will not be mailed out, and will only be featured on the website, at http://njkeyclub.org/survey.html. These surveys will greatly help the district figure out what worked this past year, and what can be improved in the following one. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me!

Yours in Caring and Service,

Regional Training Conferences Recapby Audrey Lee

LTG Division 20

On May 21st and May 22nd, Key Club-bers from all over New Jersey gathered at either Brick Memorial High School or Millburn High School to “Sweeten the World Through Ser-vice,” by attending the Regional Training Con-ference.

At the Conference, Key Club members learned how to fulfill their responsibilities and duties more effectively, while participating in valuable workshops, taught by the New Jersey District Board. These workshops passed on valu-able skills to club officers and members, includ-ing: how to have a successful fundraising project, how to better publicize club events, etc.

For anyone who missed this awesome event, no need to fret! There will also be RTC’s during the fall, on September 17, 18, and 24.

**Note to all officers: attendance at at least 1 RTC is mandatory.**

What is the ELIMINATE Project? Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined together to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. Nearly 60,000 babies die from this deadly dis-ease annually., which causes them to suffer slowly until eventual death. But this terrible disease is preventable. With only 3 doses of a $0.60 immuniza-tion, mothers can pass on their immunity to their future babies. To eliminate MNT, 129 million mothers need to be immunized. Kiwanis and UNICEF need your help to undertake such a gargantuan task. It is unacceptable for mothers and their babies to suffer from MNT when it is so easily preventible.

Rita’s will donate 25% of the proceeds towards The ELIMINATE Project.

YOU can be part of the eliMiNaTion.
