This Week’s Lesson Sunday Morning Dr. Doug Burleson Preaching
Sunday Night Sermon Buddy Johnson Preaching
GOOD NEWS We had two baptisms on Sunday! During Sunday morning wor-ship, Shawna Martin came forward and requested to be bap-tized. Shawna is new to our congregation and has been coming to worship for a few weeks now. On Sunday night, David Buckner was baptized again by Houston Bynum. Please encourage Shawna and David when you see them! AN UPDATE FROM SHORT MOUNTAIN I am writing this article as I look off the side of Short Mountain to the valley floor below. It is beautiful! God’s creation is truly amaz-ing. We are having a great week at Short Mountain Bible Camp. The weather has been perfect (so far!) and the kids are doing really well. Several of our teenagers (Jesse Bates, Brooks Burr, Sadie Mae Stroud, Seth Milton, Ben Brown and others) hiked up to the top of the mountain yesterday to see the fire tower. I am a counselor in a cabin called Rising Sun. We have ten 5th and 6th grade boys in our cabin including Luke Johnson, Harrison Burr, Parks Fowler and Elijah My-ers. They are having a lot of fun too! I promise they will not go hun-gry. They brought enough food for a month! Will Dycus is on my team this year at camp and has been a great team leader. A few boys were chasing Olivia Simpson with a frog last night (some things never change). For the counselors, that brought up a fun memory of Evan McCanless and the Great Frog Incident of 2004. We still smile about that! I am so glad to see Erika and Erin Lewis at camp this year! Erika is a great example for her sister. Kate Simpson and Ade-line Mayes go everywhere together (just like in Cookeville). I am so thankful for the adults who come to camp each year. Don Foy is our Head Chef (self-appointed, but we still love him!). He has a fantastic kitchen crew including Mary Anne Lankford, Brad Fortner, and Bud Simpson. Johnny Bates and Tim Farris are working hard to haul our trash and keep camp clean. Matt Collins and John Nichols are doing a great job directing camp this year. Jack Martin is in charge of fun and games. Summer Stroud and Sarah Foy are coun-selors this year. The girls love having them as counselors! It is great to see our kids at JA grow up and come back to camp to help make it great for the next generation. Anna Gilbert and Susan Hall have near-ly 30 girls in their cabin this year. Jeana Piggott is one of our camp nurses and gives the kids their medication. It takes a lot of volunteers to make camp happen, but it is totally worth it!
