“ Quarterl y Quote ” :  " I hope we have onceagain reminded peoplethat man is not free unless

Sam Belsito proudly serves the towns of Ashford, Tolland and Willington in the

Connecticut House of Representatives. He was elected to his first term in a Special

Election in June of 2013, and was sworn into office on June 19th.

A longtime resident of Tolland, Belsito founded a small family business, Samuel LTD

Tux King, in 1974, which he has owned and operated ever since. He has served on

Tolland Town Council since 2011, where he earned a reputation as a strong,

independent voice for small businesses, fiscal responsibility and efficient governmen

Sam has a special passion, looking for ways to help special needs children. He

understands that finding the solution to meeting the needs of this unique group of

students will not be easy but he has always been one to think outside the box.

Belsito attended the Massachusetts Military Academy and served in the National Gua

for seven years, where he achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He also graduated fr

the New England School of Accounting, Nichols College, and earned his Master’s in

Business Administration from Western New England University.

Sam Belsito and his wife, Paulette, have been married for 45 years. They have three

grown children and seven grandchildren. They have been residents of Tolland since

1969.

Meet GRE Board Member Sean Kelly

Humor

 page 3Grassroots East June 2014

Sean is currently serving his second term as a board member of Grassroots East. He

worked on Congressional campaigns in 2010 and 2012, and has been a member of the

Ellington RTC for several years. Sean is currently serving as the Chairman of the

Economic Development Commission in Ellington and recognizes the need for turning

our state economy around. He is the endorsed Republican Candidate for the 3rd State

Senatorial District. Sean joined Grassroots East because he wanted to help reign in

the liberal policies promoted by Joe Courtney. In fact, Sean says that it was the debate

about Obama Care, and Joe Courtney’s lack of compassion toward the middle class

that motivated him to become more politically involved several years ago.

Sean holds a B.A. from Marquette University and works in industrial sales. He and his

wife Blanca have been married for 11 years, and they reside in Ellington. Sean is a

huge sports fan, enjoys hiking with his wife and their dogs, cooking, and spending time

with family and friends. He is passionate about politics and Marquette basketball.

Sean would love to get his pilot’s license and his own plane, someday.

The three biggest issues that Sean believes are facing Connecticut are the decline in

opportunity due to state government stifling our economy, the state’s debt and the lack

of healthy fiscal management of spending, debt and tax burdens, and finally, the

unrealistic cost of living in Connecticut, which is pushing young people out of our state.

Sean believes that the state needs to spend and tax less to help move our economy

toward growth. Sean will work tirelessly with the other state Republicans toward

economic recovery. His favorite quote (from Mike Ditka) is “You’re never a loser until

you quit trying.”
