Last fall, Mazda unveiled it’s 2014 model lineup and really impressed the critics. With redesignes and improved mechanics, Mazda offers something every driving enthusiast will appreciate.
The experts at Yahoo! Autos said, “In the grand scheme of things, Mazda may not be the largest automaker on the block, but it is certainly drawing some attention with its revitalized 2014 lineup. Two key players, the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6, have been redesigned for 2014 with new styling, engines, safety systems, and features. Expect improved fuel economy from both models. Not to be outdone, the 2014 Mazda CX-5 arrives with a few improvements of its own, most notably the availability of a larger 4-cylinder engine. The CX-5’s larger stablemate, the 3-row CX-9 crossover, sports updated alloy wheels and a new rear cross-traffic alert safety system.”
Here is a closer look at a few of the best-selling Mazda models:
Mazda3All-new for 2014 the Mazda3 incorporated the full suite of Mazda’s efficiency-en-
hancing Skyactive technologies and has been placed on Kelley Blue Book’s list of 10 Best Sedans Under $25,000 for 2014. So what’s new for 2014? Beyond the 2.0-liter en-gine in Mazda3 I Models, every other meaningful component has been redesigned. This remake brings better in-car connectivity plus numerous innovative touches, highlighted by an available head-up display, Mazda’s econo-enhancing i-Eloop sys-tem, adaptive Radar Cruise Control, and low-speed Smart City Brake Support.
Mazda6The Mazda6 is all-new in the truest sense of the term. The body shape is complete-
ly redesigned as are the engines, transmissions and virtually every mechanical bit. The experts at Kelley Blue Book recently reviewed the Mazda6 and this is what they
had to say, “The midsize sedan segment is filled with all-new versions of popular nameplates this year, but among them, the 2014 Mazda6 seems the most willing to break from the “appliance-car” mode in both its exterior styling and its sports-se-dan-inspired handling. In a quest to improve across-the-the-range fuel economy while refusing to sacrifice dynamic handling, Mazda has filled the model with a number of related technologies under the Skyactiv umbrella. The innovations stretch from its two engines to its two transmissions to various aspects of its body and chas-sis structure. The Japanese carmaker has chosen to eschew a V6 in the new Mazda6, instead offering a 4-cylinder gasoline-fueled powerplant and, eventually, a 4-cylinder turbodiesel.”
CX-5The biggest news for the 2014 Mazda CX-5 is the more powerful 2.5-liter engine in
Touring and Grand Touring models. The CX-5 also comes equipped with the Smart City Brake Support, which can automatically stop the car in lower-speed situations when a collision appears imminent. The experts at Edmunds.com reviewed the CX-5 and said, “The CX-5 has been a big success for Mazda, a company that so often struggles to get the attention of buyers more inclined to shop other brands. The CX-5’s blend of good looks, generous feature content, ample space and carlike driving dynamics has apparently resonated with folks looking for a compact crossover SUV. If there was one area of possible improvement, it was under the hood. The 2014 Mazda CX-5 addresses that issue. Last year’s 2.0-liter “Skyactiv” four-cylinder that was strong in fuel economy but weak in power now lives on only in the base Sport model. The Touring and Grand Touring trims now come with a bigger version of that engine, which displaces 2.5 liters and puts out 184 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. Not only is that 29 and 35, respectively, more than the 2.0-liter, it’s also one of the more potent non-turbo four-cylinder engines in the segment. Best of all, fuel economy takes only a tiny dip.”

Gearing up for Jeep Camping Season.My wife and I have always said we wanted to do more camping trips with the kids, but just couldn’t seem to
make it work. Until last year! It seems since we got our new Jeep, and got involved in our Jeep club we have become camping experts! We went a total of six times last spring and summer, and have been planning trips already for the upcoming season. So I thought I would go over some of the must have products that we use and make our trips out doors more enjoyable!1. Hammocks
Their are several new hammock companies out there like ENO (Eagles Nest Outfitters) that provide a truly comfortable sleep system complete with bug nets and straps that easily attach to your roll bars. 2. Air mattresses
If you must tent camp, make sure you find a good size air mattress that will fill up the foot print of the tent and get you off of the ground for a better nights sleep. Along with this, make sure you have some sort of compressor to inflate it.3. A good cooler!
Yes all of these new coolers like Yeti or Brute are expensive, but they are well worth the money. Filling these things up with all your food and drinks and having it actually keep your food and drinks cold for several days is incredible! There is nothing worse than loading everything up one afternoon, and the next morning having luke warm water and trying to track down more ice. Invest in a good one. 4. A grill or cooking surface.
It’s hard to have enough space to carry a grill with you. Well the guys over at Front Runner Outfitters have created the ultimate camping grill. It’s a small stainless steel grill that simply snaps around your spare tire and takes up ZERO room! Simply pull it off, build a fire under it, and your ready to cook! When your finished and it cools off, snap it back on your spare!
Camping is a great family activity that can really bring all of you together. And with the right gear, it makes it that much easier and everybody has a better time! Which means... You get to go more often!!
