ELEVENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

“So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven

because she has shown great love.” - Luke 7:47

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

HOORAY – IT’S ON! JUNE 27 – JULY 1, 2016

Sign up now for the adventure of a lifetime as we climb the beautiful Mount Everest.

The cost is just $25 per child for 5 fun-filled days.

We begin each morning at 10am and end at 1pm.

Participants: Pre-K thru 5th grade Volunteers: 6th grade and up

We need adults to help run the main activities and prepare the snacks daily.

Registration forms are in the Parish Hall for both volunteers and participants.

DONATIONS FOR VBS

Hanging on the wall in the Church Hall are items that are needed for VBS. As always, we depend on the generosity of our parishioners to help us procure these items. This allows us to keep the cost of the program down so that all families can afford to participate. If you can help, please take one of the sheets on the wall and return the needed item on the date indicated. We thank you in advance for all that you do for the youth of our parish.

WORLD YOUTH DAY MEETING

There will be a meeting for all World Youth Day Pilgrims on Sunday, June 26th at 2pm. Please try to attend as this will be a very important meeting where we will give all the needed information for our trip. Please RSVP to Andrea Tighe at (845)635-1700 x 10.

ADULT SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION If you or someone you know has questions about becoming a Catholic, now is the time to consider making an appointment to speak with one of the team to see what our RCIA program has to offer. This process of conversion is one that involves inquiry and commitment to formation in the faith, including becoming a part of the parish community. Call Nancy Dunn at 635-1700 x 12.

The Cardinal’s Appeal is ongoing.

Thank you to those who have contributed. If you have not yet made your pledge, prayerfully consider participating in any way you are able. Our Parish receives back 60% of any contributions over our goal.

To date, 205 of our families have pledged $63,665.60. Envelopes are at the exits of the church

St Stanislaus parish # is 509

APPRECIATION FELLOWSHIP Sunday, June 26

We thought it would be a nice idea to end the school year, before vacations begin, with an opportunity to properly thank Lawris Barrett for her MANY years of faithful service to St Stanislaus Kostka Parish as our Religious Education Coordinator (K-6). In addition, we would like to also say a “thank you” to Dianne Serkowski for 10 years of service as Parish and Religious Education secretary. Each retired as of August 31, 2015. On June 26, after the 11am Mass there will be an enhanced Fellowship to do just that. We are looking for savory finger treats only. If you can help in this regard, we would love it. Call Nancy Dunn 635-1700 x 12. We hope to see you there!

K of C YARD SALE

The Knights of Columbus will hold their annual yard sale on July 16th. They will begin collecting gently used items for the yard sale on Tuesday evenings, from 6-8pm, and Saturday mornings, 8am-12pm. Please no clothing, rubber tires, electronics or mattresses.

FATHER’S DAY CARDS/ENVELOPES

Father’s Day cards and envelopes are available at the doors of the church. These envelopes will be placed on the altar for a novena for our fathers, living and deceased, beginning on Father’s Day, June 19.

We look forward to presenting some practical TIPS on how to “keep the faith” during the college years and beyond. *Call Nancy Dunn at 635-1700 x 12* ***If there are any current college students who would like to share some of their experiences or insights – give the office a call to speak with Mrs. Tighe or Mrs. Dunn.

FAITH FORMATION INFORMATION 2016-2017 REGISTRATION IS ONGOING

Please don’t wait to sign your child up. Informational packets detailing the changes in scheduling and the important updates to our formation program were distributed to all families in May. If you did not receive a packet, please call the office at 635-1700 x 13.

Included in this formation is the strong emphasis on weekly Sunday Mass attendance becoming a priority in the lives of our Catholic families. With this in mind, although we hope and encourage all of our families to attend weekly Mass, all those in Sacramental Formation (1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th, and 9th) will be required to attend. Details are in the packets.

IMPORTANT Grade 1-6 Parents: Please do not mail the registration in to the office. In an effort for Mrs. Sullivan to personally get to know each parent either hand deliver them to her or call to make an appointment to see her.

Grade 7 & 8 and Confirmation Parents: Registration forms can be mailed into the office, but please call Mrs. Tighe at 635-1700 x 10 to go over the new procedures and format.

FAITH FORMATION SUMMER OFFICE HOURS Although the Faith Formation Office will be open all summer, hours will be limited for June, July and August. Please call ahead to register. We ask that you not wait until September.

DEVOTION TO AN AWESOME GIFT

In his column for Catholic New York (5/26) Cardinal Dolan wrote the following observations about receiving Holy Communion. “To show our love and reverence for this mystery of our faith, we Catholics foster traditional practices of piety, which also keep us from taking the Holy Eucharist for granted, or losing the sense of awe and reverence that this Blessed Sacrament deserves. In other words, we have certain safeguards against getting sloppy about the Holy Eucharist! The upcoming feast [Corpus Christi, May 29] is a good time to recall and renew them! - Church discipline asks that we fast from all food and drink, except water, an hour before Mass; - Since we are receiving Communion, if we are aware of any serious sin that would rupture Communion with Jesus and His Church, we would make a good confession prior to receiving the Eucharist; - Before entering the pew for Mass, we would genuflect to the Real Presence of Christ in the tabernacle; - We would dress appropriately for Mass, at least in clean, modest clothes, if not our “Sunday best”; - Conscious of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist, a tone of silent reverence would dominate the Church; - We would always want to be on time for Mass, and not leave early; - Just prior to receiving Holy Communion, we would prepare especially by reciting the “Lamb of God” and “Lord, I am not worthy...” with sincerity; - Our “Amen” when the minister says, “The Body of Christ,” comes from the heart; - We would take a time of quiet thanksgiving right after receiving our Lord; - Our participation at Mass should be active, not passive; we recite the prayers and try our best to sing; we listen attentively to God’s Word; we volunteer to serve Mass, lector, bring up the gifts, sing in the choir, usher, welcome people, etc., as we are able; - Most of all, we are faithful to Sunday Mass! The studies show that only 25% of our Catholic people are consistent in Sunday Mass... we’ve got work to do!”
