Wow! Summer is upon us, isn’t it? Along with the heat comes a great number of social activities best enjoyed during the summertime: golf outings, pool parties, concerts at Chastain
Park and, most importantly, vaca-tion! The best way to make the most of your summer is to join the National Alliance of Private Clubs! You could enjoy the best seats at all of Atlanta’s local concert venues. You have access to a multitude of mem-
ber-only camps for kids—that’s basketball, tennis, swimming and more! Do you prefer to spend your summer exploring the culture of other cities and countries?
A membership with the National Alliance gives you reciprocal club privi-leges at more then 650 clubs worldwide. Whether you are traveling as far away as
Australia, or right next door to Birmingham there are sure to be clubs that feel like another home away from home.
Why not give it a try? You can upgrade your current membership for
only $30 more per month and receive the true private club experience wherever life takes you. It’s your life; let us help you make the most of it!
All my best,

From the Catering Department
Maintenance Corner
“Ask Greg!”Each issue our Maintenance Director, Greg Hazard will off er a unique and useful household tip. Have a question? All you have to do is Ask Greg at [email protected]!
Mr. Hopper~
Ants can defi nitely be annoying in the kitchen and fi nding the source is hardest part. I can tell you that they usually go straight for fruit on the counter or containers with sugar that you might use for your coff ee. During these months those ants are gathering food for the winter, so keep as much of it off the counter as you can or sealed in airtight containers. Try to wipe down jars and bottles after each use as well. Th is should help keep those ants away! And don’t worry, I am always happy to answer questions. It’s my lot in life—it’s not a lot, but it’s my life!
Signed,Greg Haz
Dear Greg~
I know it’s summer time because these pesky ants won’t stay out of my kitchen! I have searched and searched and there is always a long line of them that seem to come from nowhere. I know they are coming for something but I can’t fi gure out what it is so I can hide it and keep it for myself! I hate to be a bother but can you help?
Sincerely,Mr. Hopper

Summer Skin Care with Th e Ravinia Spa: It’s summertime in Atlanta, and the weather is HOT! While we certainly can’t off er you any new advice on how to beat the heat, at least we at Th e Ravinia Spa do know a thing or two about how to best care for your skin this season so you can show off your summer skin in shorts, tees, sundresses and bathing suit all summer long. (Oh, and if you do by chance over-indulge under the sun a bit one day this summer? We can take care of that, too.)
Tips for healthy summer skin:Use sunscreen ALL OVER your body, even on overcast • days. Dangerous UV rays can shine through light-colored clothing. Don’t forget to protect your face, as well.Apply liberally – approximately one ounce per whole • body application. (Th at’s the equivalent of a shot glass, if this helps!)Apply sunscreen 30 minutes to one hour prior to • outdoor activities, and re-apply every two hours during activities.Remember that even “water-proof” sunscreen will still • breakdown and need re-application, especially after heavy sweating or water activities.Use sunscreen with at least an SPF (sun protection • factor) of 30, though dermatologists agree that sunscreens marketed with an SPF of 70 or higher are not usually worth the added cost (there is a limit to sunscreen protection, after all). When possible, avoid direct sun exposure during the • most dangerous times of day for UV rays, which are the hours between 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Also, bear in mind that UV rays refl ect and intensify off of sand, water and even the asphalt you walk on.Fair-skinned people and those with freckles have less • melanin (the skin’s natural chemical agent and fi rst line of defense for UV ray absorption), so they should use extra vigilance with their skin protection all year long.
Tips for luscious summer skin:Exfoliate dead skin to invigorate skin cell production and • the renewal of dewy skin layers beneath. Don’t neglect your back, which perhaps you can’t see, but others certainly can. Can’t reach or don’t know which products to use? Schedule an appointment with one of our highly trained estheticians and enjoy a bit of “me” time. May we suggest a glycolic facial to reveal the healthier skin underneath the fi ne lines, dry patches and uneven skin tones left from past sun exposure? If that’s too strong for your tastes, how about our new botanical facial, which uses nature’s own bounty as its exfoliating agent? For your whole-body needs, we off er back facials and diff erent types of all-over mud wraps. All are available for both men and women. Hate those bumps and prickly stubble left behind from • shaving? Once your skin has been freshly exfoliated and polished, add a professional waxing to control your hair removal needs. Your entire body can be silky smooth and stubble-free all season long, and you won’t have to worry about shaving this summer. Hydrate your skin with our exclusive lines of skincare • lotions and sunscreens, which are available in limited supplies locally, and only from dermatologists and medical spas. Our staff will consult with you to meet your individual needs. Whether your preference is the non-irritating, revolutionary transparent zinc oxide (which protects against both UVA and UVB rays) developed by the elite line SkinCeuticals, Yon-Ka’s “After Sun Lotion Tan Prolonger”, or the unmatched rehydrating and calming vitamins found in Danish skincare line Beaute Pacifi que (developed especially to reverse sun damage and overindulgence, for those of us who may have realized the error of our sun-worshipping ways a little “later” in life), we’ve got you covered. We work closely and personally with a representative from each company to off er an unparalleled selection of skincare in the Atlanta area that we truly believe in and actually use ourselves (both personally and professionally in our spa).
To schedule an appointment with one of our expert estheticians or massage therapists, please call the Spa at
770-392-7337. For more information, please visit www.theraviniaspa.com.
