Sign of the Times, No more Fines!

Love your library, but not the late fines? We understand life happens, and that it canbe difficult to return items on time to the library. Late fees can add up and visiting thelibrary can start to feel like a burden, especially on your wallet. That’s why we’reexcited to announce that Lyon Township Public Library is saying farewell to fines! As of June 1, 2019, fines are a thing of the past. You’ll also have a fresh start as allpast late fines on LTPL materials will be waived. Cardholders who were prohibitedfrom checking out materials due to unpaid late fines will once again be able to checkout. Click here for more information.

American Red Cross Blood DrivesJuly 2, 11:00 am - 5:00 pmJuly 3, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Let's help save lives! On July 2 & 3 we are proudly partnering with the American RedCross to hold another blood drive. The Red Cross has over 130 years of experienceproviding humanitarian aid -including more than 70 years of supplying blood to thosein need. Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touchthe lives of so many more! What a great way to pay it forward and make an impact onpeople in our community and across the country.Please consider signing up to donate by calling the library at 248-437-8800 or visitingthe Red Cross website and choosing Lyon Township Public Library's blood drive toschedule an appointment.

LTPL Seed Library

Calling All Gardeners! The LTPL Seed Library is full of new seeds and is open forbusiness! Filled with donations from local seed savers and seed companies, the SeedLibrary has seeds for all kinds of vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

All seeds are free, and all we ask is that you take only what you can use and try tosave seeds from your crops to donate back to the library. You will need to fill out aregistration form the first time you use the Seed Library, and write down on theclipboard what seeds you take whenever you visit. LTPL also has a huge selection ofgardening books to get you started when Spring finally makes a comeback!

We are now lending T-Mobile hotspots for checkout from the library. Hotspots can bekept for up to 2 weeks, and provide internet access in the Continental U.S., Canadaand Mexico. Contact the library for more information and for checkout policy.

Calling all young aspiring authors! Join other young wordsmiths in our Youth WritingClub! We'll help you get started writing, and keep you motivated with games, writingprompts, tips, tricks and PIZZA! Write with your peers, have them review your work,meet other young writers, and have some pizza! Come for just one session, or everymonth! For 4th-12th graders. Registration requested so we can buy enough pizza.

Attendees are encouraged to ask authors questions about their transplantexperience, get a copy of their book signed, and join the organ donor registry to helpsupport future transplant recipients. Pop Art Collage: "An Artist's America"July 27, 10:30 am

NYC artist and author Michael Albert will be sharing his “An Artist’s America” ModernPop Art Experience with kids and families at LTPL. We'll start with a 30-minute Meet-the-Artist presentation followed by a collage workshop to give attendees a chance totry it ourselves. At the end of the session, Michael will be autographingcomplementary posters of his famous collages for everyone.Registration required, click here to register.

Family StorytimeJuly 29, 6:00 pm

Family Storytime is a chance for caregivers to actively engage with children and buildearly literacy skills through stories, songs, movement activities, and play. Qigong & YouWednesday evenings at 6:00 pm

Qigong, a 5,000 year old system referred to as an "Ancient Chinese Secret of Health& Longevity" uses simple movement, breathing technique, and mental focus tocultivate internal energy. The class focuses on the power of Qigong for health, self-healing and longevity. An excellent way to manage stress, find balance and inner-harmony. Each class ends with a guided meditation. Classes are free, and taught byDavid Tharp, a certified Qigong Teacher.
