In my May post I raised the question about moderate
Muslims with a question “are
there any?”
Since that post I have read a
book by Glenn Beck titled, “It
is all about Islam” and anoth-er by Michael Youssef titled,
“The third Jihad”. While I un-
derstand Mr. Beck’s position is “there is no such thing as a
moderate Muslim”, Mr.
Youssef, who was born in Egypt and lived among the
Muslims there before migrat-
ing to the U.S. seems to clari-fy a difference by identify.
This is a quote from his book,
“The Third Jihad”.
I live with one foot in the Christian West and one foot in the Islamic East, and I want to be clear about this: There is a distinction between Islam and Islamism, between moderate Muslims and Islamists. Though all Islamists are Mus-lims, not all Muslims are Is-lamists. In fact, I have many Muslim friends who are as strongly opposed to the Islam-ists as we are in the West.
Now I am not an alarmist
but I am a realist and I believe that we as a Na-
tion are asleep at the
wheel, meaning while we are proud of our
constitution stating “all
men are created equal” we are failing to be vigi-
lant with regard to who
is coming into our coun-
try and why.
Now may I move from
the political to the prac-
tical? This past Sunday, Pastor James Merrett
was speaking about
atheist and he made what for me was an eye
opening statement.
He expounded at length
on what I would call a theological atheist, “the
one who denies the ex-
istence of God”, to the practical atheist, the
one who says “there is a
God but seldom reads the Bible, their
prayer, if there is
one is a want list, and Church is for
those who have a
guilty conscience”.
Wow, I know I am
writing this to mem-
bers of the Alpha Baptist Association.
My purpose and
prayer is that we as
Bible believing Chris-
tians will not be
caught unawares.
Blessings Pastor
James

Encourage
I recently read an article referring to our
responsibility as fellow believers to be
encouragers.
What exactly does that mean?
Webster Dictionary says it this way:
“1 : to inspire with courage, spirit, or
hope : hearten she was encouraged to
continue by her early success
2 : to spur on : stimulate warm weather
encourages plant growth”
What does the Bible say ?
“Therefore encourage one another and
build each other up, just as you are do-
ing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Encouragement makes it easier to live in
this fallen world. ‘The Bible tells us to en-
courage one another to remind each
other of the love of Jesus Christ.
Encouragement nurtures patience and
kindness
So go forth and be an encouragement to
a fellow believer today.
Proverbs 16:24 says, “Pleasant words are
a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and heal-
ing to the bones.”
