By: Sophia Lin Anna Reichenbach This weeks practices were super hot! We did as much work as we could in the heat. We worked on a drill for throwing on the run. We also worked on both infield and outfield. On Sunday, we also did some hitting. We are working hard so we can do well in our last two tournaments. On Sunday Coach P told all the 14U girls that she had a surprise for us. We were expecting something like a slip n' slide, but this surprise was even better! While we were practicing Coach Sherry walked over! All the girls ran and embraced her in a group hug. There was also another surprise, which was Popsicles!! Everybody ate theirs and the team all talked to Coach Sherry about her trip and the tournament. We then showed Coach Sherry the drill we had been practicing with Coach P. We're glad you're back Coach Sherry, we missed you! 12U Battled the Heat in Tournament Last Weekend!! By: Alissa Gardenal This weekend we played a tournament in Elk Grove. On are first game on Saturday we kept it close but took the loss 7-5. The second game and we didn't play our best softball and we lost. The third game we played a former bears teammates team and we really wanted to come out with a win against her, although we lost our third baseman due to a migraine Savannah from the 10s pitched an amazing game. The bears held them to 4 but could only come out with 1 run coming in, I want to say thank you Savannah for helping us and doing really good. So coming back to the field at 9:30 they came out ready to play some softball! The first game we were down about 5-0 and came out strong and ended with a win. Second game we played the Grapettes battling the heat, we were down 9-2 and we finally had a great inning and it was 9-8, and are tying run was at third, she was coming home and she slid in to home an the umpire called her out(she was safe she slid under the tag) and that was two outs, sadly we didn't get our last run in so we lost 8-9. This tournament was very hard for me because I couldn't play because I fractured my finger, I wanted to go in and play and help my team but I couldn't hardly get a glove in my hand so that made me unable to play! All in all it was a great tournament!

10U Bears Played 3-Friendlies on Sunday By: Jordan Woolery

Last weekend Bears 10u played three friendly games on Sunday. During warm-ups we saw two random dogs and Coach Sam said they were hers. Coach Sam named them Kitty and Moo-Moo. I was happy to have Coach Ray back for the games. In the first game the other teams catcher got hurt so they did not have enough players. Savannah played center field for their team. Savannah got a ball in quick to second and threw Alexis out at home. Alexis trucked the second catcher at home. We still won. It was so hot last weekend. We won two games and lost one. After the games I went with some teammates to Baskin Robbins to cool off.

I hope it will be cooler this weekend in Modesto. We have a three-day tournament for the NSA State Championship. I think it would be awesome if we win.

18Gold In NEW YORK!!! By: Ashley Gardenal and Rayna Damacion

This past weekend the Bears 18Gold traveled to New Jersey for the girls who want to go to college on the east coast which will help them to get recruited. It was a new experience for everyone especially the girls who have never experienced humidity. Even though it was low/mid 80's- 90degrees F, sweat would just start pouring out of every possible sweat gland in your body. The humidity was not as bad when we were all sitting and hanging out or when it was raining, but once you started walking or making some type of physical movement, sweat would rain from your body. After we finished playing on Saturday, we took a ferry to New York and hung out in New York City for the rest of the day. We passed by the Statue of Liberty and visited the 9/11 Memorial where we all paid our condolences to the ones whose lives were taken from such a tragic event. We then bought some east coast pizza which was very tasty and delicious. Afterwards everyone experienced their first subway ride which was quite a new adventure especially when one of our teammates saw their sisters friend on the same subway ride. Once we got off the subway we walked to time square and were able to see why New York City is called the city that never sleeps. We also took a little stroll down past radio city and into Central Park. Finally we got back on the subway and took the ferry back to our van called fat Amy and drove back to the hotel after having a tiring yet most fun adventure in New York City (pictures shown below).
