Gospel Meditation In today’s Gospel, Peter has his own ideas about the type of messiah Jesus
should be. After Jesus’ first prediction of his Passion, Peter tries to change
the mind of Jesus. Jesus responds by saying discipleship includes the cross,
a complete surrender to God. How often do we want things our own way?
How often do we struggle trying to shape our world to our liking? How
successful have we been? May the Holy Spirit teach us to be open to God’s
will.
Dios. Cuantas veces queremos las cosas a nuestro modo? Cuantas veces

Aides and Subs Needed!
Please consider helping in the religious education program this
year. Last year we educated over 500 students from kinder thru
12th grade and our numbers continue to grow each year. That
takes a lot of volunteers! If you don’t want to teach, you can still
help. We need classroom assistants and outside safety monitors
as well. Please prayerfully consider helping our church commu-
nity. This may offer you an opportunity to grow in your faith
also. To sign up or get more information please go by the RE
volunteer table at the entrance of the church. “Jesus said, ‘Let the
children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom
of heaven belongs to such as these.” Mathew 19:14 NABRE
All new teachers, aids and subs are welcome to join us on
Wednesday, September 6th at 6:30p.m. for the teacher orienta-
tion session for this 2017-2018 school year. For those that are
unsure and would like to get a better idea of how the program
works, I invite you personally to joins us on this day and meet
our wonderful team this year and review the books that are used
during these sessions.

22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time
Jesus knew that he would face the cross. Like Jesus life will
bring us to difficult places and we will face obstacles. Sometimes
on our path of discipleship the obstacles are within us: I‘m not
gifted; I don’t have the time, I am homebound. Sometimes the
cross we are asked to carry is very near to us: praying for some-
one who annoys us; taking the time to recycle; finding and buy-
ing fair trade products; learning about Church teaching on an
issue that troubles us. What cross is yours to carry this week?
casa.
na?
