July 2017 Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Men will not meet in July or August. The UMM will resume meeting in the fall at 6:30 pm on every third Tuesday at River’s Bend Restaurant. Any change will be relayed via the church bulletin announcements. All men are members and are welcome to attend our meetings. For more information on the UMM, please contact Charles Woodard.

The Crafty Ladies want to thank their "Crafty Men" - Frank Linkous, Richard Enz, Stuart Morefield, and Sandy Forbes for all the work they did this last week to repair and get the Crafty Ladies' closet set up for our use. We are so appreciative of their many talents and willingness to always help us.

HEALTH KITS FOR VIRGINIA ANNUAL CONFERENCE - 350 kits delivered to the Virginia Annual Conference. There were a total of 46,443 kits from the many churches in Virginia for UMCOR to deliver where they are most needed. Thank you for all your support and busy hands put-ting the kits together for our chapter. We haven't decided yet what our UMCOR mission project will be for next year but will let you know very soon so that we can get to work early this year.

Thank you to Ditty Mooney for an excellent program at our June meeting on "Communities Challenging Mass Incarceration". We had the opportunity to experience what living in a 6 x 9 foot jail cell and looking through bars at our loved ones could feel like. Remember, the James River District has more prisons than any other place in Virginia and there are many, many women incarcerated in those prisons. Our chapter tries to support the UMW efforts in these prisons.

READING PROGRAM - for those of you in the reading program, remember your deadline is August 15th to get your list of books read to Lilly Enz.

YARD SALE - don't forget the next yard sale is scheduled for September 30th. Bring your items on Friday, the 29th and we open for business at 8AM on Saturday, September 30th. This time we will be looking for warm, fall/winter clothing. Start cleaning out the closets now.

NEXT MEETING - our next meeting will be August 21st. The meeting will start at 6:30PM and light refreshments will be served. There is always an open invitation to women of the church to join us at our meetings or come work on one of our mission projects. We would love to have you in our UMW group.

Earn. Save. Give. June 2017 – Continued Stewardship Success

BHUMC,

Half way through the year and we are right on track AGAIN. Hard to believe the year is half over, but the progress remains in line with our giving goals to be consistent and to stay committed. Every-one is doing their part, keep going – it is amazing to be a part of and will be another grand celebra-tion for God’s work when BHUMC fully funds the budget and apportionments for its 5th consecutive year.

Summer months are in full swing and as normal, attendance and participation is low as everyone en-joys trips, vacations, busy schedules, family, friends and fun. Please remember to help us stay com-mitted to our consistent giving – give of your time and funds all the same, and catch up if you need to.

Again, thank you for all the contributions in the past and for your future sharing.
