July 1, 2014 To All Reps working with GE Silicone: I want to take a few minutes to introduce myself since I’ll be coordinating the efforts of the GE Silicone projects going forward. My name is Mike Shey; I’m a Vice President at Quest helping to develop and coordinate various projects in The Home Depot, Lowes and other retailers. I’ve talked with and met many of you in the past; I’m available at 6319870325 or [email protected] . I prefer email because if any of you have questions, there’s a good chance others are wondering the same thing and I can get the answers out to everyone involved with the project. Periodically you will receive a mailing or update from me such as this one – these updates are an effective tool with which to reach everyone, particularly if there’s a change of focus or specific task to be addressed in your store visits. I welcome your feedback and suggestions on how we can improve our efforts in the stores you service. The number one item we want to establish is a strong relationship with your stores. Let’s face it – if the store associates like you, they are going to sell more GE Silicone – it’s just human nature. So, the way I see it, my role is to help you establish, maintain and improve the relationships you have in your stores. There are a few specific items I want to address with you in this update, as follows: GE put together an updated Product Knowledge (PK) document which I asked them to print and distribute to each of you. You should begin to receive them sometime next week – this training document is an excellent handout to review when you’re meeting and training associates in the stores. You can hand these out to associates in the paint dept, as well as associates in plumbing, millwork and building materials. If the Pro Sales desk allows you to leave some copies at their counter, that’s a home run! If you need more of these handouts, let me know. It’s very important you confirm the sets in your stores match the POG. Make certain we have the proper facings of each sku – remember the store associates will sometimes fill holes with the wrong product just to make things look pretty. That can be disastrous for us because if you’re not checking, we’re going to lose space in the set. Also – take the time to check clear versus white product in all categories. If you’re just looking quickly we may have too much or not enough of one which also is problematic. There is an upcoming promotion for WD Silicone ll clear, sku 362646 that will be hitting stores in select markets next week. This promotion is a wing stack supporting Building Homes for Heroes – a very worthwhile charity and a great effort on behalf of GE. A and B volume stores will be getting two of these wing stacks; C and D stores will be getting one each. Your job is to make certain these display units are on the selling floor, take a picture of it during your visit and post it with your reporting. They should be on display in BYO 3 and 7 stores by July 15 th ; these stores are those located in VA north and through PA east (the upper right corner of the country). Please support this charity and effort by making sure these displays are on the selling floor during your upcoming visits. There will be mailings to your homes about this promotion as well. Your before and after pictures are very important and are being reviewed carefully by GE and our office. You should be taking a before picture of each bay prior to working in the set. Then you should be downstocking where possible, front facing all GE Silicone skus and spinning the labels to face forward, and stacking the floor inventory three cases high. We should be seeing a noticeable improvement in the set from before you start to after you “work the bay”. Think of it

To All Reps working with GE Silicone:

I want to take a few minutes to introduce myself since I’ll be coordinating the efforts of the GE Silicone projects going forward.  My name is Mike Shey; I’m a Vice President at Quest helping to develop and coordinate various projects in The Home Depot, Lowes and other retailers.  I’ve talked with and met many of you in the past; I’m available at 631‐987‐0325 or [email protected] .  I prefer e‐mail because if any of you have questions, there’s a good chance others are wondering the same thing and I can get the answers out to everyone involved with the project. There are a few specific items I want to address with you in this update, as follows:

• GE put together an updated Product Knowledge (PK) document which I asked them to print and distribute to each of you.

• It’s very important you confirm the sets in your stores match the POG.

• There is an upcoming promotion for WD Silicone ll clear, sku 362‐646 that will be hitting stores in select markets next week. They should be on display in BYO 3 and 7 stores by July 15th; these stores are those located in VA north and through PA east (the upper right corner of the country).  Please support this charity and effort by making sure these displays are on the selling floor during your upcoming visits.  There will be mailings to your homes about this promotion as well.

• Your before and after pictures are very important and are being reviewed carefully by GE and our office. Think of it

this way – ever been to the grocery store in the morning and see all the bottles and cans lined up neat and facing the same direction?  That’s what your stores should look like when you leave!  In Lowes stores the shelved product should all be case cut – opened in the carton. The floor inventory should be stacked three high with only the top carton case cut.  This is very important and will be looked at carefully going forward.

• The last item to mention during this update is the cross merchandising racks for Home Depot.  Several of you have asked me about the availability of these racks so I want to provide an update.  First, there are no Silicone ll racks available at the moment; don’t try to order them as they are just not available.  The factory is having new ones being produced but they won’t be available for several months; I’ll keep you posted on the progress.  However – here’s the good news!  There are hundreds of cross merchandising racks available to be ordered immediately.  There are many, many gutter/flashing racks and many paintable racks available RIGHT NOW!  These racks aren’t doing anyone any good sitting in a warehouse; you should begin to order them IMMEDIATELY!  I would like to see you order 2 of each rack for each of your stores during your next visits.  You can easily find a home for a gutter/flashing rack in the building materials dept; same with a paintable rack in the faucets area.  With the other two racks I’d suggest you have price labels printed to cover the words gutter/flashing and paintable and then find a good home for them in plumbing and millwork.  With a little creativity you can easily make spots for four racks in each of your stores.  Remember to take before and after pictures – we want to show GE Silicone the extra value your efforts are bringing to the table.  Following is a simple step by step outline of how to order the racks.  If you don’t know sign into the “EPOP” system, and most of you probably don’t, just ask a store associate to help you.  Let’s face it – the stores love these racks so they will be happy to help you order them!  Note the racks take about two weeks to arrive so depending on the frequency of your visits you’ll know when to look for them.  They should go to the paint dept or the POP bay upon arrival so you know where to look for them; just ask the store associates to put them aside for you.

Step 1 – log into the EPOP system and access My Apron from any store computer (you may need some help doing this step)

Step 2 – the login is [email protected]  and the password is gerran123

Step 3 – select the top tab labeled MET, select TOOLS, then select EPOP

Step 4 – locate the proper racks (HD24GF for gutter/flashing and HD24XST for paintable)

Step 5 – enter the store information to complete the order

This is pretty easy; like everything else, once you do it a couple of times you’ll see how easy it is.  Remember I’m looking for you to order 2 of each rack for EVERY store you visit over the next few weeks.  I’ll receive tracking from GE on this so I’ll be able to see who is ordering racks and who might not be.

So that’s it for now – a lot of good information in two pages.  I look forward to working with each of you on this very important project.  Please let me know the successes and challenges you’re experiencing out in the stores and I’ll do what I can to assist.  Thanks in advance for your efforts!
