    Sky Recording is a Recording studio located in Kansas City. This is Sky Recordingsonly source of promotion and display. Their site hits strong on the values that theycarry but lacks to show examples of photos of what they do. Theres not real voice oressence that existed. I wanted to give them a voice so the first step to rebrand themwas the name.

    Along with the name change a new series of explorative rebranding took place tobring 816 recording to where it is now. The new brand mark has an arrow pointing upat the sky to hint at the previous name and also mimics a metronome and the needleon a record player.

    The words that were chosen as the brands attributes were partially derived on thecharacteristics that our audience and clients are composed of. With so many nightskies, and so many stars 816 is giving their audience an opportunity to become a starand get their piece of the sky. These musicians are special breed.

    Weve worked out the new look of 816. There are certain ways to use it. First, youve got to understand the

    parts. Once you get the way it works, youll see how it complements how we work.

    It is black and white. Literally. 816 RECORDING always stays one of the two. The only thing that ever

    changes is the color it rests on.

    Theres plenty of space in the sky but just make sure the brand mark can breath in the space thats

    around it.

    body copy is. It adds a little more breathing room between letters than the secondary type has to ofer.

    Colors are important. Knowing the order of use and how to use them prevents misuse. Dont just throw

    them around, were serious.

    Use the primary colors to set the tone. Blacks and greys show strength and that nice cyan highlights

    pieces and adds a diferent personality to the cooler colors.

    Those secondary colors give more of a personality to the personalized pieces, like business cards, and

    individual staf member stationary. This helps display that were all individuals and that we each own our

    piece of the sky.

    Every year, we record a variety of music. All of the music we produce passes standards of what you

    usually hear. To give everyone an earful of how dedicated we are, we compile a limited edition sampler

    with a note from Jim Schrader, himself.
