The 8.0 magnitude earthquake which devastated the south-western province of Sichuan on May 12, 2008 has left thousands dead or injured and millions homeless. As of June 10, according to Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs, the calamity has sadly accounted for:

Death toll: 69,146 people

Injured: 374,072 people

Missing: 17,516 people

Displaced: more than 15 million people

Homes damaged & destroyed: 35 million homes (only in Sichuan province)

In response to the territory-wide appeal to help the victims of the Sichuan quakes, the MCS FSA Trust has donated a total of HKD30,000 through the Red Cross on May 20. The Red Cross’ efforts will target the most affected, paying special attention to special health and psycho-social needs of the most vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, pregnant mothers, the displaced and disabled, among others.

Please continue to contribute generously in aid of the earthquake survivors and the reconstruction work in the stricken province.

A Charity Event was organized by student officials from the Secondary Section at 方樹泉青少年

综合服務中心 on 13 July in Whampoa Gardens for the newly arrived children. A number of MCSFSA Exco members also joined this meaningful event and had a fun-filled time together.

Around 30 children joined MCSFSA Exco members & their children The Theme is “Aeroplane”

CCllaassss RReepp DDrriivvee Are you a natural born grape-viner, meaning news tend to travel fast via your mobile and inner circle of friends? Are you in touch with girls of your year, and/or a few years up and down? Are you a parent of a MCS student who suddenly finds herself surrounded by old-girl moms? If so, you are the perfect Class Rep for the FSA! If you wish to become an FSA Class Rep, simply email your name, year, contact numbers to Lucy Khouw, our Membership Chairlady at [email protected]. Other than being a Maryknoller, the other criteria of being a Class Rep is that you should hold a valid FSA membership, and preferably have an email address. Alternatively, if you wish to resign from the Class Rep list, feel free to contact Lucy too.
