HI PERFORMANCE SERIESDESIGNED TO GIVE YOU THE BEST PERFORMANCE POSSIBLE.

The HP series defines the boards that best suit hi performance surfing in hi performance conditions. The following models are the primary boards used by all our team during WCT competition. But don’t be discouraged, this does not mean they are beyond the reach of the everyday surfer; rather they are the peak in performance equipment giving you the greatest oportunity to perform to your best.

LOWDOWNTHE NEW GENERATION SURFBOARD The LOWDOWN was developed throughout the end of 2013 between JS and Julian Wilson. Its key purpose is as a small wave performance board that JW can confidently use in competition when the waves have less shape. Julians performance at Lowers and the conversations following, established there was still plenty of room for design change. His style and combination of hard rail turns and arials required a new approch to Volume distribution, rail type and rocker. The key element in the LOWDOWN was the volume, which is pushed forward allowing you to drive and generate speed more from the front foot. With more volume forward, the foam over the fins is removed, increasing board sensativity under the back foot.

Late curve under the back foot allows good release and leaves room for an extended sweet spot throught the center of the board and under your front foot.

LOWDOWN has a unique entry rocker, its curve flattens out quickly to reduce

resistance and ensure a sweet spot under your foot.

Best performance of LOWDOWN will be found in both soft to fun waves between 1 and 5 feet.

Our team are surfing LOWDOWN around their locals breaks when conditions are poor.

Team will expect to ride LOWDOWN in contests like:

M3 - MONSTAQUITE POSSIBLY THE WORLDS BESTALL ROUND PERFORMER. MONSTA 3 model is the most all round ultra high performance board in the JS quiver. Its been credited as the 2013 surfboard of the year by the ASRA (Aust. Surf Retailers Awards) as well as playing a major part in Parkos WCT victory. It slots in the huge gap found between perfection and absolute slop. This model has been building momentum since its release in 2010, undergoing slight adjustments from event to event and surfer to surfer to finally arrive at its ideal state.

The M3 is built off the boards that Joel, Dusty, Ace, Julian and Garbrial Madina all rode throughout 2013.

FORGET ME NOT. RND PINTHE MOST PROVENMODEL IN HIGH PERFORMANCE SURFING

A board that needs little introduction, the FORGET ME NOT pin-tail has become the definition of good wave performance equipment.

Introduced mid 2012 by Joel Parkinson during his WCT victory, the model fast gained traction with surfers all over the globe as the ultimate board for boat trips and the good days around the local spots.Ace, Parko and Dusty all won major events riding FMN pin in 2013 and will be first choice for all team throughout 2014 if waves permit.

We’re all in it for the perfect surf, when that surf is here you don't want to rely on anything other than the most proven and trusted equipment.

MONSTA X (MX3)A PROVEN SMALL WAVE PERFORMER

MX3 is the most performance driven small wave groveler in the range. It was conceived from some of our team riders favorite MONSTA models, with the goal to provide performance in very poor conditions.

Considered a member of the proven performer quiver that Joel and Jack Freestone used throughout their World title year (incl. MONSTA, FMN, MON X). If you are looking for top performance in the worst of conditions MONSTA X is the choice.

EVOLUTIONALL ROUND GOOD TIMER.

Evolution has been designed for the Revolution fans chasing the same feel and performance for when the waves get slightly bigger. While still an X-series model (medium conditions) EVOLUTION is positioned at the high performance end of the category with its best performance in average 2-6 feet conditions.

Its flat rocker, subtle double to double concave gives the Evolution infinite speed, lift and minimal resistance. Unlike other smaller wave boards too much speed is no longer a problem; with a rounded pin you can utilize all your speed throughout your turns. The Evolution does not leave the Revolution redundant but rather compliments it. If your most common conditions are fuller shaped waves you will find performance in all conditions up to 6 feet with both models in your quiver.

REVOLUTION 2EVO’S LITTLE BRO

REVOLUTION! One of JS industries best selling models of all time, its shape and construction (both of which have been improved on for 013/14) make it a leading performer in small waves. The 3 key improvements to the REVOLUTION are the updated carbon, 5 fin setup and slightly fuller rails. The new XCF carbon has improved the flex yet maintained strength. 5 Fins increases the REVO’s range allowing you to enjoy a wider variety of conditions with the option of quad or thruster. On top of all this, the rails have been improved to give you the same response without catching or bogging in soft/sloppy conditions.

SUMMER SERIESSMALL DAYS NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD SUMMER SERIES is full of boards built to bring you some love in the worst of conditions. Its range is scaled to have you covered from 0-1 foot onshore to a little 2-3 arvo glass off, all offering great performance, speed, forgiveness and a hell of a good time. Its a range we have been working on for a while and although the boards in it could be called “fun boards” we take them real serious. A mile of testing and effort went in to make Summer Series the very best for 2014, cause like everyone else; we get our share of average conditions.

BLAK BOX 2BACK AND ITS BLACK

BLAK BOX is the original summer days performer. It’s the no frills, no nonsense board for surfers who want something they can rely on in absolute junk - yet still have fun on when its good.

Although BLAK BOX hasn't been front and center of our last few ranges its always held its own with a loyal fan base and solid reputation. Its now been updated to follow JS’s latest design qualities; its been narrowed slightly in the nose and tail, has a lower rail and removed double concave. In all, the BB2 has expanded its range of wave types without compromising performance in the small stuff.

On top of all that we have built a stack of them with Black FUTURES boxes.. Understandably.

DROPPED SWALLOWA SMALL WAVE BOARD THAT HAS ALL THE TRICKS

We’ve taken all the best components of the Matrix, added some area to the nose, a smoother outline, new tail shape and created the Dropped Swallow… This new model will have you flying across any section in that 1-2 foot range. One of the main talking points is the new tail shape; the sawn off effect offers all of the drive and leverage points that you can expect from a square tail, while the semi-swallow still allows positive rail to rail transitions. The best combination from 2 proven tail shapes.

Tail PatchesIt became obvious that the original carbon had to change when our team was requesting NO carbon as it stiffened the tail. Additional layers of cloth added weight with minimal protection and as the tail is most vulnerable to damage, a solution was

required.

This lead us to the development of the tail patch. Using a calculated spacing of yarns, positioning the strongest close together on the outside rail & reducing the strength and quantity onto the deck gave us strength where needed. This

lay up also blends the flex to avoid any irregular stress points.

Below: Tail Carbon on team boards for the 2013 Hurley Pro

How XCF is better.Carbon can be made to suit a variety of applications and can range in strength, weight and flexibility.

Carbon heated in the range of 1500–2000 °C (carbonization) exhibits the highest tensile strength , while carbon fibre heated from 2500 to 3000 °C (graphitizing) exhibits a higher modulus of elasticity.

Its weight and strength is also dependant on the number of filaments per yarn count. Ranging in the thousands, the higher the filament count the stronger the yarn, but also the heavier.

We have combined high grade carbon with the greatest elasticity, along with various strand densities and woven them with our current fiberglass cloth. The arrangement of the strands is designed to benefit areas that need strength and others that

need flex.

Understanding Carbon and its uses.

CarbonCarbon Fibre has become a common seen material, used in aerospace to sporting equipment.

Until now, the surfboard industry has been simply adopting preexisting material lay ups with little involvement in tailored design.

We have developed our carbon to work with our surfboards to give you the best in performance through strength, flex control and weight.

30

Page 31: JS industries 014 online catalogue

Bottom StripCarbon bottom strips have been successful throughout past seasons for us and other manufacturers. Outside of

our brand surfers like Kelly Slater have proven there performance on the world stage and now with the confidence of the market we have taken it a step further.

The idea of a carbon strip is to give you the strength without adding additional layers of cloth. The problem with traditional carbon however, is the density and concentration of strands stiffening the board

and reducing its performance. The HI>LO bottom strip offers the HI performance and LO weight through its lay up and carbon densities. Heres

how it works:
