empathy, sympathy and
apathy?
In a group, look up the definition of each word and write it
down in your notebooks. Then look at the pictures
provided to you on the next slide and choose a picture to
represent each word. Explain why you chose that picture
and how it is demonstrating empathy, sympathy or
apathy.
What is the difference?
Sympathy = with feeling for someone/something
Empathy = sharing someone's feelings/situation by
imagining what it would be like to be in the same situation.
Apathy = lacking concern.
All have as root the Greek word = pathos [feeling]
