TRANSCRIPT

Create either a PowerPoint presentation

or a PosterBoard presentation over the

layers of the Earth.

Create a 3-D model of the Earth to

present with your presentation.

At least 6 slides.

Slide 1: Title, Group Member Names

Slide 2-5: One for each of the four main

layers of the Earth. (at least 3 facts for

each layer)

Slide 6: Something interesting that you

learned during your “Journey to the

Center of the Earth.”

Be completed on Presentation Posterboard (I will show an example in class).

Be creative and informative.

Present information about all 4 layers of the Earth. (at least 3 facts about each layer)

Include something interesting you learned during your “Journey to the Center of the Earth.”

Model will display both the main layers

and the sub-layers of the Earth.

Each layer will be made to scale.

Materials will be chosen based on the

properties of the Earth’s layers.

You will research the following questions,

in order to complete the task that follows

this webquest.

Resources

Research Questions

1. How do scientists study the inside of the Earth?

2. What are the four main layers of the Earth?

3. List 3 properties of the crust.

4. List 3 properties of the mantle.

5. List 3 properties of the outer core.

6. List 3 properties of the inner core.

7. The crust and the upper part of the mantle make up a

sub-layer called the _________________.

8. The lower part of the mantle is called the

_________________.

9. List 2 properties of the lithosphere. Next Page

10. List 2 properties of the asthenosphere.

11. What layer or sub-layer of the Earth is divided up into section? What are these sections called?

12. What happens in the asthenosphere that allows the plates to move along the top of it?

Heat Transfer

13. Explain how heat moves during all three types of heat transfer and give an example where you can find each type on Earth.
