LineThe lines created by the telephone pole and the power

lines navigate us through the image

ColorThe tractor demonstrates many different intensities of it’s rusty red color.

ShapeThe tree under the moon appears to have only 2

dimensions exemplifying its shape

FormThe hexagonal shape of this birdhouse and its position by itself in the clouds demonstrate the full form of

this object.

TextureAfter years of weather, the sunlight reveals the fragile texture of the deteriorating backboard of this old

goal.

ValueThe bright red of the chicken’s comb and wattles contrast with the value of its darker feathers.

SpaceThe lone oak tree in the middle of the empty field portrays

open space that only the country can offer.

UnityThe water in this trough reflects the image of the leaves above making unity in this image.

VarietyThe smooth glass jar against a background of bark and leaves gives a strange variety to this image.

BalanceThe birdhouse splits the image in half creating two

nearly symmetrical portions of the oak tree.

EmphasisThe humming bird feeder has emphasis and immediately grabs our attention then releases us to observe

the birdhouse and trees in the background.

ScaleThe trailers demonstrate their scale as they seem to lift the

focus up to the telephone pole in the background.

RhythmThe end of each wood cut reveals a repeating pattern of circles creating rhythm of the image.

MovementThe horse demonstrates its subtle motion by lifting its hind leg as it makes a slow move toward us.
