January 6 PRINTMAKING: Printmaking is all around us even on our clothes! We will experiment with printmaking letter blocks to make our own t-shirt. January 13 FULL SIZED PORTRAITS: View a painting called The Greenhow Children and learn to create gure portraits. January 20 STAINED GLASS WINDOWS: Take a look at a beautiful stained class window in the Founder’s Room then create colored shapes from paper and assemble them to create a stained glass window collage. January 27 FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE: Visit Joslyn’s Little Dancer sculpture by Edgar Degas and use sculpy clay to mold a dancer of your own. February 3 MINI MONET: Create a painting on fabric in the loose style of the Impressionists after looking at paintings by Monet and others in the gallery. February 10 ALL THAT JAZZ: In the Mind’s Eye Gallery, Chris Raschka’s illustrations of jazz greats will inspire our rhythmic pastel creations. February 17 ART NOUVEAU GLASS: Use simple marbling techniques on paper to create the milky surfaces before cutting a symmetrical vase shape. February 24 EGYPTIAN TREASURES: We will explore the galleries and travel back in time as we admire ancient Egyptian artifacts that will inspire our creations in the studio. March 2 HIEROGLYPHICS: Learn about ancient Egyptian picture writing and make a clay relief tablet. March 9 BUILD A PALACE: Look closely at Gerome’s Grief of the Pasha and create a diorama with luxurious patterns and color. March 16 3D ANIMALS: Trek through the galleries to see how artists use texture and pattern to create animals in their art then create your own 3D critter from self-hardening clay. March 23 SCULPTURE: This class will be held on the Bridge under Chihuly’s glass sculpture. Gaze at the colors and shapes of Dale Chihuly’s glass forms then use model magic clay to create a sculpture of your own. March 30 SELF PORTRAITS: Take a closer look at Bouguereau’s The Knitting Girl then learn to create a self portrait painting of you doing something you love to do. art adventures AGES 3-5 ( WITH AN A DULT ) January 6–May 18 Drop by with your preschooler to see artworks in the galleries and to do a simple art-making activity. Art Adventures is a great way for young artists to have their rst Museum experiences – with a grown- up by their side – before coming to art classes on their own. April 13 LANDSCAPES: Find out about horizon lines and other elements of landscape painting by visiting the gallery then create a landscape of your own in the studio.

April 13 PAINTING PETS: View a painting of a beautiful maiden from Russia and her kitty. Touch some samples of animal’s fur and paint pictures of pets with texture and pattern.

April 20 STILL LIFES: We will visit a still life painting by Jacob van Es in the gallery before painting an edible arrangement in the studio. When we !nish we’ll help see our painting subject tastes!

April 27 FRESCO: Take a look at a fresco painting called Master of Barluenga, St John on Patmos which used to be on the wall of a 13th Century Spanish Church. In the studio we will learn how we mix, pour and paint on plaster to create frescos of our own.

May 4 MAJIOLICA PLATES: Look closely at examples of fancy Italian dinnerware from the age of the Renaissance then return to the studio to replicate the patterns and designs with oil pastels and paint on paper plates.

May 11 TRYPTICH PANELS: Find inspiration for a three paneled painting by looking at a Renaissance painting full of symbolic meaning.

May 18 TONDO: We will create round compositions with golden frames after looking at a tondo painting in the gallery.
