The Department of Psychology offers an APA-accredited doctoral training program in Clinical Psychology. I served as the Director of Clinical Training (DCT) for five years, from August, 2005 to July, 2010, which included conducting our APA self-study in 2009 and organizing our reaccreditation review in Spring 2010 (resulting in the maximum 7 years of reaccreditation). My training in clinical psychology emphasizes an empirically based integrative approach to understanding and treating patients. My current research focuses on personality assessment, including topics such as construct validity, interpretive reliability, and training.

The College of Languages, Literature and Social Sciences (LLSS) is one of three colleges derived from Arts and Sciences (the others are Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Communications and the Arts) in 2010. As LLSS Associate Dean of the Social Sciences, I oversee the departments of Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science, Geography and Planning, Economics, and Psychology. My postdoctoral fellowship included providing integrated psychological treatment in the partial hospitalization program, psychological assessment, inpatient and day hospital group therapy, and participation in rounds, conferences, and staff meetings. My specialties were the Women’s Trauma Unit (half-time) and Psychological Assessment (half-time). Massachusetts Mental Health Center, a teaching institution of Harvard Medical School, provides an integrated treatment approach for clients with serious mental illness; Harvard medical and graduate students also have reduced-cost treatment at MMHC. My training experience included outpatient psychotherapy, intake evaluations, and psychological assessment at MMHC and a 6-month neuropsychological assessment rotation at McLean Hospital.
